Re: Won a game against a 2p with LeelaGPU on FGS + commentar
I also think it's dishonest. If I want to play against bots, I can run them on my own computer. What if I want to review with my opponent or ask about their go history? I've met many friends through playing games online. Maybe practically it doesn't make much of a difference, since you're unlikely ...

Re: Do you want to become stronger? Why?
I want to become stronger. For me, playing and studying perfectly aligns with wanting to get better. I've never felt content with my rank, strength or understanding of the game.

Re: Tygem 8d
I finally hit 8d, 11 days ago on Christmas! It took way longer than 3 months. Going from 6d to 7d took me an insane amount of time something like 2-3 years (I don't know when I first became 6d). From 7d to 8d, took me a 1 year and 5 months. It can't be easier to go from 7d to 8d than 6d to 7d, so it ...

Re: Leela has a new version
I played it against it and it was quite weak. It couldn't tell that it was dead in 3 different places. Sometimes, it plays well but it's easy to beat once you realize it can't read tactical sequences at all

Re: Go problems don't bring any result?
"10 problems a day" is quite unspecific. I usually start my day by doing 10 problems, but it only takes me a few minutes. weiqiok.com has 4 daily problems and Tsumego Pro has 6. Most of them I solve at a glance, the hard ones might take me up to a minute. So, how much time are you spending on ...

Re: How long does it have to be a "dan" player
I agree with Joaz that KGS 1D can be considered a gold standard. 1D on KGS is pretty much dan level anywhere, perhaps with the exception of some European countries. However an AGA 1D would be a bit off the mark from 1D in Korea or most European countries.

Re: Tygem 9k
I don't agree with EdLee's variation at move 10 for white. If D17, E17 and C14 follow, I don't think this is better for white than simply connecting.

Bots with pro level endgame
A few years ago, when top bots were 5D or so, many people on KGS were claiming that some bots had pro level endgames. It seems to me that Zen lost to Cho Chikun in games 1 and 3, in large part because of endgame mistakes. So I'm just curious whether people were talking nonsense or if bots already ...

Re: Asian server get boring after a while ...
You have to earn your wins, it doesn't matter if you're well ahead if you mess up later and end up losing. It's part of the game. And to be honest, tygem low dans may like to fight but aren't particularly good at it.

Re: Asian server get boring after a while ...
Well, it sounds more of a problem with the level of your opponents than with Asian servers in particular. Rank up and play stronger opponents.

Anecdotal rank conversion chart
This chart shows the expected rank conversions between different systems from my personal experience and observation. Having a one to two rank difference from this chart is very common. For example, a 6d AGA player is expected to be 7d on Tygem, although their rank could range from 5D (moderately ...

I'm 7D on tygem. I'll play anyone.
