Re: Cleaning Instructions for Slate Shell & Wood
I heard bees wax and caranuba wax can discolor the wood slightly, which is probably a no no for some good hon kaya gobans... I heard renaissance wax works? Im not really sure what wax to use and trying to figure it out myself.

Renaissance wax?
I think the time has com to wax my Kuroki hon kaya goban. Should I really buy the recommended wax from the Kuroki website in Japan or will renaissance wax be better. I think I have some bees wax but heard that might stain the board.

Yunzi stones no longer in production?
Hello,
I just got this email from Yellow Mountain Imports and was wondering if anyone can verify they no longer make yunzi stones:
“Thank you for contacting us, we don’t carry Yunzi stones anymore since the manufacturer has stopped producing them.”
I thought yunzi stones were only produced by the ...

Re: U.S. Federal judge allows media to report Chess WC moves
I wonder if they will ever host chess in the US again since the organizers got shot down by a US federal judge for not getting their way.

Re: Is Go a physical sport?
If you noticed in the last link I provided, Chess is considered a sport by the Olympics, as well as by over 100 countries world wide ( all but 3 or 4 european countries), as well as international sports regulatory organizations.

Re: Is Go a physical sport?
Janice Kim, a 3 dan Korean professional, claims in her books "Learn to Play Go" that Go is considered a form of martial arts in eastern Asia .
Yes, I always heard that it was considered a martial art, but I do not consider martial arts to be sports. Neither does Wikipedia by the sound of it ...

Re: Is Go a physical sport?
Hi,
I would not define Go a physical sport, still it is for sure a sport.
I think that the definition of Mind Sport fits well and Go was included in the Olympics of Mind games since 2008 together with Bridge, Chess, Draughts (Checkers), and Xiangqi (Chinese chess): https://en.wikipedia ...

Sweating, altered perception of sound, time and vision.
Dry mouth, difficulty keeping a steady hand.
Watching a horror movie is also not a physical sport.

Re: Is Go a physical sport?
It seems according to those of you in support of this position, that your logic can be simplified down to "doing something for a very long time = sport". Let's explore other possible examples:
* staying in bed for 2 days
* sitting on the toilet for a long time
* reading the Game of Thrones series ...

Re: How tired are you after a serious game of go?
I have been teaching my cousin's 2 boys, 6 and 8, how to play Go, and although it has been trying in a different way, it has not been the same mental strain as playing a game myself.
Next lesson is tomorrow night; last week I tried to get them to use a clock so that the 6 year old wouldn't get up ...

Re: How tired are you after a serious game of go?
I thought chess tournaments were exhausting, and that Go might be more relaxing, but Go like chess is going to be just as exhausting I think, already some of my online Go games that have lasted a couple hours are exhausting.

Thanks for all the responses. <name> qishu seems to make sense because of qi and shu for uncle?
