I recently started playing on GoQuest and I absolutely love it! I don't think I've ever played Go as much as I am playing now, after a long hiatus.
Only problem is I can't shake the feeling that I not actually playing Go. Are 9x9 skills transferable, or is the positional judgement too different to ...

Re: Why do some people stay at the same rank?
Improvement is logarithmic. The longer you perform, the slower you improve. Only fundamental changes in the amount of time, the quality of training, or preferably both, can increase the slope again. If you have played for 25 years like me, there's so much bad habit ingrained in your playing, that ...

Why do some people stay at the same rank?
I've seen individuals stay at the same rank for over thousands of games over multiple decades?
If you are that consistent, what are some of the reasons you would not improve naturally?
Are they playing rote moves without thinking deeply each game? I doubt that it's a matter of talent since kyu ...

Re: How should we clean go equipment in light of COVID-19?
Apparently hard surfaces are one of the main ways virus can spread, which makes going to go clubs a relatively higher risk. I would avoid until this whole thing dies down.

It seems I don't really fit in very well with the culture of this forum. Y'all take it easy.
I haven't seen anyone be hostile towards you or your ideas, so I'm not sure why you would think that. You put yourself out there by presenting your ideas on a forum and naturally you will receive feedback ...

Why do AI competitions play so few games?
Computers do not get tired, and they are able to play thousands of games while maintaining the same quality. If the purpose of these competitions are to determine the strongest Go AI, shouldn't they have the AI play as much as 1000 games per round and declare the one with the higher win percentage ...

Re: How to use AI for review
Look for significant blunders. A significant drop in win rate is a good indicator of where you messed up. Another place is where AI consistently recommends a move as blue spot, but both you and your opponent continue to ignore the move. This can give you a sense of where the hotspot is during the ...

Re: A vow to not play a single game of Go until...
2. Do not attempt at a solution until I have read all possible variations and I am 99% certain
It is sufficient to read all of your opponent's replies at each turn. All you have to do is find one play that works at each turn, but it has to work against all comers. :)
Good luck! :D
Thank you ...

That depends on what rank you are:GoStud619 wrote:I am actually assessing based on KGS and AGA ranking system here. I heard that KGS ranking system is stronger than AGA these days. Is that true?

Either by yourself or with an opponent, would you be able to play a fresh game entirely in your head? Would anyone be able to do this in real life like Touya Akira?
