Even if the sequence works, why would black play it all out? After white d18, might it be better for black to sacrifice those two stones? I don't see why it's important for black to take the corner (in gote and at the expense of a massive white wall) following the ponnuki on top.

Is it really that long? Sure, it's a fair way from his own stones, but in relation to your stones, it only intrudes underneath by one.

I don't think white can sever the connection between the two black groups in sente. However, I don't think black ends in sente either, simply because any time white realises he can't stop 2 eyes forming up top, he should ask himself ...
