Re: What things could I have done better in this game?

You can learn a lot more from the games you've lost, not the games where you completely crushed your opponent.

Yeah, but this is the first game where such an occurrence happened and while it is true that you learn a lot more more the games that you lost, but you can also learn a lot from learning ...

What things could I have done better in this game?

I messed up on killing some of his invasion groups, that much i know. Back to L&D books I guess. Maybe do some of Cho Chikuns Life and death encyclopedia.
The question I want to know the most though is could I have killed whites middle territory and should I have and how does one approach a 5-3 ...

Re: Really lacking on understanding of the opening? - Books

Ah, thanks. I already have Kageyama's Lessons in the fundamentals. Maybe I should study off of it more. I have a tsumego app called tsumego pro. Could you please tell me how helpful is Graded Go Problems for Beginners? I looked into the some of your other books they seem good.

Re:

Hi UnitedGo,

Robert has already provided some answers in another thread .
I second that a key part is your tactical fundamentals.

For example, in your June 07 game , for :
no reason not to first atari at D13.
( The follow-up move is another question all together. )

Subsequently, see your own ...

Really lacking on understanding of the opening?

What books do you recommend to improve my ability to comprehend the opening. These are the books I have on the subject:

Dictionary of Basic Joseki
Opening theory
38 Basic Joseki

I have no books on fuseki. Some books that go lightly over a couple of these will be helpful. I don't need anything too ...

Re:

Hi UnitedGo, Correct. A key here is not all liberties are the same:
Your post-4 suggestion, G11, does reduce a B liberty --
of the B F11 stone, which is not important;
whereas C9 reduces a B liberty -- of the D9 string, which is!

Haha good thing my opponent didn't see this then, but bad thing I ...

Re: UnitedGo's Road to Dan

Day 3:

I didn't play many games today. Today I have been focusing on reading my books and doing tsumego. Tsumego really forces you to use
your reading ability and at some points they're really hard, but tsumego are really fun and I would say their up there in the same
category with jigsaw puzzles ...
