I bought the goban about six months ago and have kept it in its wooden box, wrapped in cloth, whenever I'm not using it.

I hope it's not been too long to start the acclimation now! I will contact a woodworker in Vegas and discuss.

I live in Las Vegas and recently (a few months ago) bought a hyuga-kaya goban. It is very dry here. Any suggestions on care? Do I get a wax from Japan? I also read someone on this forum suggesting Renaissance wax. Also, any suggestions on how best to apply would be appreciated!

Another great game (and win) for Xie Yimin! She beat Tsuneishi Takashi 4D in a very close game.

I think she is now in the finals of the last preliminary for the Meijin league.

Yeah was a great game to watch! Hard to choose who to cheer for but was on Xie Yimin's side. Would be amazing to see her compete for a major title! (Cho Chikun already has a few)

Looks like Xie Yimin lost yesterday in the Kesei C league. Does anyone know how many they can lose and still continue?

Also, did Xie Yimin lose? I'm just using computer translation but doesn't the top of the page says that the triangle is first (black?) and the left is the winner. Also, there are tournament-by-tournament reports and it seems like Xie won vs Hirata Tomoya.

Seems like her good results recently just haven't translated into title wins. As mentioned above, maybe like Cho Chikun she can have a second wave in her career. There are some good NHK Tournament videos on YouTube with her playing. Here is a good one against Hane Naoki.
