I have averaged the length of the last 33 of my KGS games that were counted: 267 moves. I do not think that you should base this calculation on less than that.
You should also count kgs games, that were not counted...
Also it is not good to look average, but those games that are in the shortest ...

Re: EGF and Fischer
EGF rating committee finally achieved resolution how to deal with Fischer timing.
New minimum requirements are:
class A: 45 15 (adjusted time for T240: 2×75min)
class B: 30 10 (adjusted time for T240: 2×50min)
class C: 20 5 (adjusted time for T240: 2×30min)

Re: Korean Prime Minister's Cup
Wow, check out Artem's performance! His only two losses were against Korea and Japan, but he won against Jiang Lie (US, 7d), Li Ryan (CA, 5d) and Liu Guyu (AU, 7d). IMO, even more impressive than Jiang Lie's 6 wins - Jiang Lie did not face ANY 7d players and lost to Artem...

Re: EWGC-2010
tapir, If we have option to reserve time for play-offs, then we can play one extra round with regular McMahon. It is always more productive to play extra rounds, especially if top players are allowed to meet twice, than to play play-offs. If play-offs are not played with blitz time settings, e.g. 8 ...

Re: EWGC-2010
..one-point difference in MMS / Swiss score remains your secret, you lost me there.
Example: some people have suggested to play 9 round main tournament, and if standigs are not clear, then 10th round.
In EGC 2009 Eunkuk was in 8 wins alone after round 9. If tournament had been terminated here ...

Re: EWGC-2010
Reserving a day for play-offs to decide the winner - at least in long tournaments like EGC or WAGC - would be a better solution in my humble opinion.
Of course there are disadvantageous sides in Sos. This thread's example tournament was one good example. But I would say that there are great many ...

Re: EWGC-2010
Bottom line: This time we had 3 or 5 SOS points difference (Vanessa or Rita resp.) and we consider that result unsatisfactory but we are still ready to decide EGC or WAGC victory on a single SOS point. I would have a hard time to explain this to my fellow go players.

Re: EWGC-2010
A glance at the result table shows that there is no accuracy to talk about. There is a two point difference (SOS) between first and second placed just by the truly random first game and later on this difference did increase, even though the second did not lose a game (until the last round). So yes ...

Re: EWGC-2010
The problem with (normal) McMahon is that you allready before the start of the tournament the organisation denies some people the possibility to win the title. (everybody under the bar is no contender for the title)
I do not see a problem here. If someone thinks that their actual skill should be ...

Re: EWGC-2010
I added tournament to my Asparagus, so that pairing can be studied in detail and make appropriate speculations. Indeed it looks like Vanessa would perform as well as Pei, and Rita had bad luck with pairing.

Re: EWGC-2010
With such a high distribution of ratings, tournament system was effectively 4 round swiss tournament. And therefore as there was not someone, who was clearly above others and would win all her games, it is _very likely_ that there are several players who will share top place.

Re: Is your rating accurate ( too low? too high? )
Is your rating reflective of your true strength? ( I'm not asking for a comparison of rating systems here. Please assume that most of the other player's ratings on that rating system are accurate. I only want to know if you think that yours is yours accurate. )

Re: New go tournament result server
Thanks for the bug-spotting! Half MM-scores were denoted by "?" and it messed up my script. But I taught it to interpret those as MM-scores and not as a games without result.
I also added player listings. Now it is easy to search tournaments by player name.
