Re: On the accuracy of winrates
I do not like the term win rate either, it is an estimated value for a move on a (0,1) scale. So the neural net when fed with a position gives for each (legal) move two values: the plausibility that it will be played and the estimated value. Both are fed into the MCTS to generate plausible sequences ...

Re: On the accuracy of winrates
I am also joining late in this discussion. I ran a lot of tests using various configuration of bots.
Test 1: top pro game. Analysed by Leela Zero network #157, but using the Ray machine (because it knows about ladders). Go review partner was used to run the analysis; GPU was a 1050 or 1080 Ti ...

Re: statistical analysis of player performance
Please note that these three runs provide the best estimates for the winrate of (for Black). Running Leela 11 for 60 sec. provides an average of 167K playouts for , 123K for .
I am not sure I understand what you write. IMO it runs 160K simulations on the board position after and the 122K is the ...

Re: statistical analysis of player performance
IMO the whole analysis is deeply flawed because the very basis of the analysis: the "Leela top 3 suggestions" is undefined, even if we fix the running parameters such as number os simulations and the base machine configuration. Both the Neural Net and the Monte Carlo Tree Search have some random ...

Re: Questions about a game
It is wrong to use Leela in analysis of case where it is suspected that it was used?
Interesting reasoning. What is next, to use some random player's games instead of Metta's?
As I said before, your analysis is sloppoy and in this case you just confirmed what I wrote.
I said that "It is an ...

Re: Questions about a game
The following diagram shows AQ's evaluation after Blacks move. This diagram shows how Blacks "winning %" changes after his answer to Whites moves. So if it jumps up- White's move was not so good and Black replied took advantage from that.
The diagram is from 11-04 this year, when AQ was sill about ...

There is so much to say about this analysis, so I am going to make some renarks in some random order.

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
Jan, it would be good if you checked your records. I have not written the original "98%" analysis.
Sorry, I was mistaken. I have now found the facts. The original "98% analysis" was submitted by the Israelian team captain Amil Fragman together with his offcial complaint on 2017-12-13. Together ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
As it happens, the move in question (156) was Leela 0.11's third choice, ...
What does that show? Nothing IMO.
For the 5 alternatives White has for this move (h19, J-19-J16) 3 win the game if my analysis is correct. J18 played by Metta is a well known shape move. It is not even too difficult ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
....
There is no need for 3 windows and toggle. In Leela you can simply press f2 and activate analysis, which would show in red best moves.
Also, two boards is easily possible on any monitor.
You are mistaken. F2 toggles the analysis MODE, but does not bring the analysisi window to the forefront ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
Was the one move of the 50 moves originally considered that did not match Leela's top three choices?
I do not have that original analysis, but in my runs with Leela 0.11 it was not always recommended in the top 3. Note that the original method is not stable: there is some randomness in the ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
On the computer Carlo Metta might have used in his PGETC games. In the Italian appeal they specify what computer they performed their counter-analysis on: Intel Core i7, 2.60 GHZ, RAM 16GB, GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M. Operating system - Windows 10. They also say there that it analyses about 100k ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
Why do you think it can not be done quickly?
Because I tried a year ago in many games on KGS. Look at this rank graph on KGS:
m
Those are all games against bots with 5-15 seconds per move. 5 seconds was very tight. I lost some of those games on time.
Your reasoning that it is possible to ...

Re: “Decision: case of using computer assistance in League A
After move 139 the black advantage Leela 0.11 estimates is 70%, but AQ finds it only 55%. It is white's last chance to overturn the game, and AQ indeed can win this position with white against Leela 0.11. That means AQ's evaluation of this position is probably more accurate. AQ vs AQ is not ...
