Re: LeelaZero adventures on Fox
I just lost 3 games in a row by half a point using #188 on my 1060 GPU (pretty sure at least 2 of those were using bots, many moves matched LZ's, plus game chat). As LZ uses 7.5 komi and Fox uses 6.5 I thought there might be some instance where LZ as white thinks it's going to win to win but ...

Re: LZ's progression
Ah, but I have no GPU, and to get a game that takes less than two hours I have to restrict LZ considerably more than you did. On my computer, time parity is 600 visits for LZ 157 and 153 visits for LZ 183. Does 183 still take the lead under those conditions?

Re: PhoenixGo Installation and vs. Leela zero, vs. DeepZen 7
about 7.5 or 6.5 komi problem, understood. still the sample game results are valid so long as white won. but it is beyond the point that i am questioning the komi setting of either 7.5, or 6.5 or even 5.5 are too high for a fair game setting.

Re: Pheonix Go Installation and vs. Leela zero, vs. DeepZen
Why would you do this in the first place? Both LZ and Phoenixgo were trained with a komi of 7.5.kyotosato wrote:2. game rule setting of 6.5 Komi may not results in a fair game. my next post will switch position by letting PhoenixGo takes black with 6.5 komi.

Re: Engine Tournament
I didn't mix different weights or different versions of one engine I... what? I never said you did.
But I don't see a reason to explain why I don't test all versions and networks. I didn't say that, either. I feel like you're reading something different from what I'm writing.

Re: Engine Tournament
I am sorry that you feel misleaded. How can I name it in the future to avoid misleading? I would edit your very first post and include something like the following: Because the strength of go programs don't really change over time, and because it takes so long to run the matches, I reuse the ...

Re: Engine Tournament
It is not a ratinglist but a tournament. Every tournament I have ever heard of uses the results of current matches. I have never heard of a tournament that reused results from previous tournaments.
To describe what you are doing as an engine tournament is very misleading, because it implies you're ...

Re: Engine Tournament
Other networks have been played already, I don't save time and computing resources when I cut them out. Wait, are you reusing the results between tournaments?!
But you are right, it has been a long time since the last test so I currently run a new one.
Because of the training with ELF games the ...

Re: Engine Tournament
I won't test every network, so I have to do a cut somewhere. That's reasonable, but if you're going to do a tournament that tests the strength of Leela Zero it should include, at minimum, the most recent LZ network. Cut out other LZ networks if you have to.

Re: Engine Tournament
I planed to use the best network of each size. Okay, but... why? Doing it that way misrepresents Leela Zero's actual, current strength.
Furthermore the Leela Zero team is now using ELF games to train the network, so I deliberate whether it makes sense to test "best" networks that are weaker than ...

Re: Engine Tournament
Why are you using an old model and an old version of Leela Zero? The weights have been 192x15 now for over a month, and the latest version of Leela is 0.15.2. Leela Zero 0.13 128x10 6/16

You know what that says to me? He used transfer learning from Leela Zero's weights.Hane wrote:Golaxy, while adopting AlphaGo‘s basic architecture, [...] manages to complete model training with less computing resources or training samples
