Re: "A Master of Go", iOS/iPadOS Go AI app

I have found a bug tested on both iPad Pro M1 and M2 versions. Start a game using KataGo 40b, then after playing a few moves, pull down the control centre from the top right, and swipe the the control centre back up. Then continue playing the next move, this next stone can be placed anywhere even ...

Re: "A Master of Go", iOS/iPadOS Go AI app

Hi, I would like to know if the app could still work on the new M1 chip Ipad pro? I supposed the A14 new Ipad air would be Ok. Any test about this?
I quoted the wrong post :-)

The M1 iPad works and is way faster than my other iPad pro.

For an arbitrary mid game position (b40s985 net) :
iPad pro ...

Re: A Go AI app for iPad with that strong neural network

It works great on the M1 iPad!
It's magnitudes faster!
Just amazing!

Re: Developing weak AIs in KaTrain

Even if you did all the work you propose and trained the net as you propose in a way to be compatible with katago, and it worked I couldn't guarantee it would make it into the program.
The potential instability of running two instances of katago etc might not be worth it given the rather small ...

Re: Developing weak AIs in KaTrain

Sanderl, I hope you understand what I am proposing.

Train a small net (as big as it takes to get a reasonable result) on human games at all levels.
Only train the net on human games (no self play at all).
A good starting point could be games played by players around 9 kyu.
(one could experiment on ...

Re: Developing weak AIs in KaTrain

So, based upon what you are saying we can edit the following statement, right?

It should easily be able to distinct between a 25 stone atari and a slightly more difficult life and death problem.

How's this?

The smaller net should easily be able to distinguish between some atari and some life ...

Re: Developing weak AIs in KaTrain

Well, it is a comparison, right? What are you comparing?

Why 25 stones and not 15 stones or 10 stones?
It was an arbitrary choice.
I could have typed 15 or 10 it does not matter.
It was just a way I hoped to clarify the usage, obviously I failed :-)

And NO there is not really a comparison (at ...

Re: Developing weak AIs in KaTrain

Most life and death problems are not as big as capturing 25 stones vs. letting them escape. :) I think you are missing the point!
Perhaps you are missing my point, I dunno. :)

This is not playing and it's not choosing between two different moves.

It's a comparison between the size of two ...

Re: Developing weak AIs in KaTrain

I am a new user of KaTrain! (I have fooled around a lot with katago)

Nice work!

The calibrated rank, what scale is it aiming for (EGF, AGA, IGS)?

Is it possible to let two bots play each other at different calibrated ranks?

It's calibrated against GnuGO and Pachi - I have no idea what that ...

Re: Developing weak AIs in KaTrain

When trying to get a calibrated rank, don't you think it could be useful to train a very small net (6 block) to just tell how probable a certain move is to be played by an human? And then just skip moves with a (very) low score.

(I bet an atari on a 25 stone group would get a high score)

Re: best network for mobile device

I use the latest KataGo 15block at 3 second thinking time. Works great!

It is funny how different 3 second and 4 second feels as respond time.
3 seconds feels really quick but 4 seconds feels kind of slow!

Re: A Go AI app for iOS with that strong neural network

y_ish san,

please let us know if you still read this forum!

I have a tiny suggestion!
At least I think it would be very easy to implement.
It's quite normal to play with reversed komi.
And as I see there is today no way to set up you app with reverse komi (other than -0.5)
So we can't study with ...
