What's ironic here is that the first book about Go I ever purchased was published by them, and I didn't even know they were locally based. While Slate & Shell seems to have an online presence, the Richmond GO Club is rather lacking. Guess I'll swing by the S&S offices tomorrow and see if I can find ...

For those of you who have successfully kept a bamboo goban for a while, are there any particular tricks or care tips I should be using? After seeing the OP post about the trouble they have had, I would like to be able to take some preventive measures to keep it looking as gorgeous as it does now ...

Anyone in the Richmond and nearby areas (Chesterfield, Midlothian, etc.) interested in some real-life play? Or if we get enough people, to actually start a club in the area?

I'm not the best player out there, but still prefer to do games face-to-face, rather than on-line.

Well, it's just shy of a 2 hour drive over to the Norfolk / VA Beach area from Richmond (the way I drive at least), but might be worth it on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on how often you meet, and days/time.

Don't suppose you would be willing to move to Richmond? The only club I have been able to find in the area is one at VCU, who, unfortunately, pretty much only meet on a night when I'll always have class. Pickings are slim for starting my own club as well.
