tried this on xbox 360 live arcade, cost 400 points (about 6$), has a 9x9 storyline/tutorial, playing locally and online.
not a bad introduction to go, though as I'm not a beginner I can't vouch for how instructive it would be. it is fun though and the AI has varying styles.

Re: How helpful is replaying Lee Changho games?
I think that when replaying pro games, the key is to enjoy it, so don't worry about which pro you study, just enjoy it and you will improve.
I recommend reading Lee Changho's book that was translated into french "Invasion et réduction" in 2 volumes, as it would give you insight to his way of ...

Don't all of these become more useful as the student gets stronger? I don't see the issue...
well you are right, but there are other methods possible and I wouldn't call it an issue...

this makes much nore clear what you are looking for.
some suggestions:
thanks freegame, sorry for not being clearer right off, but I still think my original question makes sense (reading it weeks later).

Re: Teaching stronger players
There is a lot of material available in books, but you might have to buy them
I'm a bit puzzled by your question. Do you expect there to be ready-made lessons so you don't have to do any work?
Thank you for your suggestions, buying books, paying a pro for lessons and not being lazy. thanks man.

Re: Teaching stronger players
Thanks for the ideas guys, but it isn't so much that I run out of ideas for my students, but rather the fact that I have found no teaching ressources at all. (outside of paying for a go school)

Re: Fuseki Schmuseki #1
Confirms that I have a hard time distinguishing between the fuseki of 1kyu to 6 kyu.
I find a lot of the difference between strong kyu players is strength in reading, which usually trumps fuseki judgement for say a 3-4 kyu. I've been reviewing games of several players around 2kyu and there are a ...

Re: What came next and why
Lots of options... if I'm black I'd probably play a move up top, either at C15, D15 or G15. If the move is surprising, I would say a pro would want to remove the aji of R14, but it seems to early and hard to remove in one shot. Maybe C3-D3 instead, as white made a bigger enclosure than normal. Of ...

Teaching stronger players
I've been reading about teaching a bit lately, and I've found very little about teaching stronger players (5kyu-2dan)
I haven't found any good teaching ressources... It seems that most ressources pretty much only mention getting a stronger player to review your games once you are past ddk. I also ...

Re: Fuseki Schmuseki #1
not changing my answers.
#1: 1dan. white is at least consistant in all his stones aiming for influence. lacks efficiency in his stones.
#2: 2kyu. black plays an uncommon move and white answers a bit passively. the 3-3 leads me to think it could be someone stronger as I rarely see 3-3 by anyone ...

Re: Fuseki Schmuseki #1
I had only looked at the first 10 moves, updated rating added in brackets, after reading the whole thread...
#1: 1kyu? (1-dan after 20) hard to say so far it's only standard moves, but white is at least consistant in all his stones aiming for influence.
#2: 6 kyu (2kyu after 20) ...

Re: Smartgo: Android.... any word?
on his twitter he announced that it was unlikely because:

he also states that there's too much stuff he wants to improve in the ipad version first.
@Jaysiosity Sorry, no Android version for now, too much C++ and Obj-C code in SmartGo that would need to be converted to Java.

I'm not a programmer, but couldn't a third party make a development kit that allows you to port a java based program to ios in the same way that adobe made a development kit that allows you to make iphone programs in flash and then port them over?
