Re: Interesting Analysis of Ancient Top Professional Players

Something else to consider, best practical play vs best theoretical play. By which I mean taking into account who is ahead, who is behind, how much time does each player have to work with, etc.

If you are behind, contemplating two alternative plays, A and B, where A is slightly better than B but ...

Re: KataGo 1.9.0 released!

By the way - if you have a bunch of known joseki blind spots, please send them to me or post them or whatever. Any reasonable SGFs with variations can be added to the training so that the variations get studied during training.

As I've mentioned before elsewhere, essentially through a series of ...

Re: KataGo 1.9.0 released!

Do the avoidsgfs pattern parameters work for analysis or just gameplay? My first thought was to make a file with some of Katas joseki blindspots and set it to a moderately high negative so that it analyzes them. However, it doesn't seem to have done anything - good chance that I didn't configure ...

Re: More tesujis in josekis

If you are training out blindspots, you should also give some training to this position:

$$Bc AI prefers A and doesn't immediately realize that 1 is often better.

Re: q5go-1.1.1: Tweaks and improvements

Do q5go databases have a tagging feature? That is one of my favorite Kombilo features. It allows games to be tagged as 'Seen' or tagged by particular opening/joseki/handicap etc...

Re: Relatively successful professionals who eschew 4-4 openi

Sun Tengyu opens 33 and an AlphaGo enclosure. Xu Jiayang and Tan Xiao currently play 3-4 openings.

But not surw that there will be a pro post 1990s who never played them. Especially as white.

January 2020 Professional Games from FoxWQ

This archive contains games that either involve one top 50 player or two top 500 players (current GoRatings strength). It also has a folder that contains all the pro games broadcasted on Fox with the FineArt variations which is pretty cool to peruse in Kombilo.

Re: 2019 Games from Top Pros on Fox

I think there's a webpage with Fox game records that you could crawl/scrape, like the KGS archive webpages, but I can't remember the URL.
Yes, but it just scrapes every game by game # and the encoding sucks so I went with this. Ill think I will post some filtered January games involving top ...

Re: 2019 Games from Top Pros on Fox

@emerus, thank you very much!
I downloaded all of the 2019 games for the top 15 players on Fox. How did you do that, though? I’d like to download some myself. :]

With a script through the client. I download every pro game of 2020. It takes about 20 minutes to get a days(or a year of one player ...

2019 Games from Top Pros on Fox

I downloaded all of the 2019 games for the top 15 players on Fox. There are around 4100 games, including a few 9x9 and some teaching games but almost all of them are vs other top level professionals. Here you can find which professional the username belongs to.

Useful for those of us who like to ...

I emailed the dev about the 2020 problem umm... three weeks ago or so. :) I hope he is aware of it, otherwise it would be nice if someone could compile it for Windows.

A new FineArt model might be trained for ties. It plays on FoxGo with 2 handicap and 0 komi.

Re: Can We Stop Calling Kata "scoreMean" Points?

When you (emerus) talk of points do you mean:
- minimal guaranteed territory (i.e. even if opponent gets the gote endgames in the area you still get these points). I think Myungwan Kim 9p tended to count like this in his videos and called it "confirmed territory".
- expected local territory (i.e ...
