If you followed the game, then you can tell where stones are buried. I am not confident that I can avoid off-by-one errors with that, though.
But at the end of the game, you can do button scoring: remember whether White passed first, then do area scoring, and if White passed first, add 1 to White's ...

And as for "mistakenly thought they were leading" --
I remember Takemiya saying that any player worth his salt didn't need to know how many prisoners were off the board. You just counted 2 points instead of 1 point for each point where a stone had been captured (with ko captures cancelling out ...

Re: LG Cup 29 final fiasco
My own view is that rules such as the one here were probably drawn up not to discriminate against anyone but simply to avoid arguments over cheating. However, in cases such as major title matches, cheating by messing around with prisoners is surely impossible. The games are televised and recorded ...

Hey, this seems interesting with lots of good contents
However your episodes are quite long and sometimes I would just like to listen to certain segments of an episode. The thing is that it is often rather difficult to navigate into those parts.
I have a suggestion:
Could you add segments ...

Re: Amazon army
Some recent changes in female rankings:
- Ueno Asami has gained some ground and moved closer to Fujisawa Rina. However the gap (40 points) is still considerable. Dont expect to see big changes, unless Sumire manages to defeat Fujisawa Rina in their upcoming match.

Re: Following Nakamura Sumire
About the use of old and new games in the algorithm, I'd like to explain something better:
from what I read in the paper, all games taken into account have the same weight in the result of the algorithm. goratings.org is based on that paper. but perhaps only games newer than some time are taken ...

Re: Following Nakamura Sumire
My question earlier, about whole-history ratings, is whether that way of looking at ratings obscures the significance of players (forget daily strength). It seems to me, prima facie, that it brings in troughs as well as peaks, and so flattens out a player's profile. Very wrongly, I feel. If you ...

Re: Following Nakamura Sumire
According to the WHR description as used in goratings.org, all games played by all players are taken into account. So, if Rui Naiwei played and won a lot, and then nearly stopped playing, she doesn't get a lot of punishment. The usual is that an active player wins more games in its prime, then ...

Re: Following Nakamura Sumire
She was actually top 30 at the beginning of the year, according to this .
The historical ratings are not fixed. If she wins a few games now, all the historical ratings will get higher too. For example, in this post on 15th March she was only ranked #35 in the same beginning of the year ranking ...
