Re: Fun Tournament

Eh, both of those players kind of irked me with what they were saying during their games. Perhaps it's just me, but Syptryn seemed rather disrespectful to his opponents. But again, that's just my opinion.

Well, I felt there was a bit of testosterone inspired gamesmanship going on perhaps (maybe ...

Re: Fun Tournament

where can I find more info concerning this IronMan

Find myself asking the same question. Its surprising how little there seems to be about the tournament, the creation of it, its history ect. Maybe I'm just not finding it, but I didn't see much of anything about it even on SL. Anyway, as a fan of ...

Re: Fun Tournament

Interesting game from the last round (13?), didn't follow it during the round figuring Koffein wouldn't have too much trouble with shodan Pichan (Koffein was leading the open tournament at the time of this game). Was pretty surprised when I looked in on the game towards the end of the the round to ...

Re: Fun Tournament

What a great idea! Been following this tournament (first time) for several rounds. The energy in chat at the beginning of rounds is palpable, and Syptryn's (mock) stressed out comments have been cracking me up. XD There have been some real interesting games. Oh, and sweety's unique way of referring ...

So your saying you'd be glad for a review from yourself? Not that theres anything wrong with that.

Chinese Championship produces candidate for game of the year

ChessBase says a game played between Zhao Jun (2580) and Xiu Deshun (2508) at the recently held CC makes their short list for game of year. An awesome game indeed, here it is with comments:

Re: Agathis or Shin kaya

If you are open to a different source you might consider Shodan Imports : m Their shin kaya size 20 board is about the same price as the agathis board but the quality of manufacture will be much higher and, compared to the shin kaya board from YMI the height of the board from the floor is more ...

Any thoughts on this opening position?

This is from a game that I was unable to finish, it ended here at move 40 white r6. I'm trying to understand the urgency of moves in the opening better so I can get more playable positions and claim my share of the grid. I'm black. Appreciate any comments.

Re: Hyuga Kaya vs Hon-kaya

You might want to consider how you are going to use this board. Does it have legs? If not, i. e. if it is intended for use on top of a table, it might be a bit too thick. The tops of Western tables at which we sit on chairs tend to be around 30" above the floor and another 2.75" for the thickness ...

Re: Improvement from Turn based games

Also, on DGS at least you can setup your account so the last dozen (any number you want) moves are numbered, so it's as easy to see sequences as reading a Go book.

Thanks CnP, was not aware of this feature. Pretty cool.

Interesting thread. For some reason I'm reminded of Hikaru's conversation ...

Re: Catching Scent of Victory by O Rissei

On the face of it, e-books seem likely to have only minor impact on the go market. Purely as a thought experiment, imagine that go e-books come along and have just enough impact to kill off the paper books. Assume, plausibly. that rather many of those people who bought paper books declined to ...

Re: Pet peeve

This is a problem that should never arise in go, due to the (I thought) convention that regardless of the gender of the players, Black is always she and White is always he. m Apparently no one knows.

Charles Matthews: Well, I have written a whole book in gender-neutral language. It can be done ...
