Thanks so much for the thorough feedback! I added most of it to my rapidly growing todo-list.
Initially there were more problems per game, so I decided against a "download SGF" feature early on. After all, users would be able to analyze the game, then go to the next problem and immediately know the ...

Re: Realistic Go problems
Would appreciate any and all feedback!
The link takes me to a login page. I can't see anything else without registering. Literally nothing, it's just a black background, not even a bit of basic info about the site.
I've already got more accounts on more sites than I want to keep track of. I'm ...

Re: Realistic Go problems
Nice idea, however I don't always understand why my wrong answers are wrong and why Katago's answers are correct. Perhaps show a few followup moves? I considered adding the AI variation but given the (low) amount of playouts per position it's likely to confuse the user more than help them. I will ...

Realistic Go problems
Hi,
I quite like Go but never liked tsumego, finding them tedious and too small in scope, so I've made a website with what I think to be a more rewarding and fun approach to Go problems. They are whole board positions from pro games turned into problems by AI (curated by me). It's still a work in ...

Re: What are you views on Go using an integer as komi?
Tournament scheduling would have to change to make room for possible draws. This is is the usual explanation given for fractional komi. But I have never found it completely convincing. Chess and checkers (i.e., draughts) games often end in draws, and yet tournaments seem able to cope with them ...

Re: What are you views on Go using an integer as komi?
Tournament scheduling would have to change to make room for possible draws. For example you can no longer have a final scheduled the day after the last semi-final because you might need another game in the semi. Draws would be rare, but draws being possible at all would have too much impact on ...

Re: The End of Humanity
I'd say it's a system with superhuman intuition, but no ability to check its intuition with further thought, or do anything other than say the first thing that "comes to mind".
Imagine AlphaGo without MCTS. Without the tree search. It would have superhuman intuition but it cannot go beyond that. To ...

Re: Tsumego copyright
I was thinking of "The problems will get ratings as well as the players". To me this is fundamental to the concept, and something goproblems.com does well. Ah I thought the problem ratings were static. I never looked into their site much because the 4 lives thing put me off, and led me to assume ...

Re: The End of Humanity
The "Sparks of AGI" paper about GPT-4, which is a significant jump in capabilities from GPT-3.5 (ChatGPT) proved to me that intelligence is an emergent property, and that it's much easier to replicate than I had previously thought. ChatGPT was impressive already, but it never quite felt like the ...

Re: Tsumego copyright
I believe there's a bit of a wasted opportunity in the Go community when it comes to Tsumego. I want to "gameify" them a bit to make it a more fun/rewarding experience. The basic idea is to introduce a time limit for solving the problems and giving people points based on how quickly they solved it ...

Re: Idea to raise the popularity of Go
@Elom0 >99% of people in the West simply do not know what Go is. An event that penetrates the mainstream and even just introduces the existence of the game to tens of millions of people will absolutely result in more players. It's a numbers game at that point. An event like this will affect the ...
