Found, never mind

Thanks to @mhlepore, I was able to find and secure the Hikaru manga series. Thanks for looking.

Re: Go Eye , the best iOS app for Go!

I still use this app frequently to open recent pro games, copy the sgf, and paste it into “A Master of Go” for AI analysis.

Re: Leelago and Katago on Mac M1 chip

Bump. I believe that Homebrew for katago works on the M1, though I have no idea if it’s optimized.

I wonder how fast M1 Pro and M1 Max will be (visits per second). Any guesses?

Re: "A Master of Go", iOS/iPadOS Go AI app

Thanks y_ich,

I had no idea how much more powerful the neural engine was compared to the gpu. I am glad your app either effectively uses both, or that it’s not a big deal if it isn’t using the gpu. I’m a little surprised the development tools don’t let you dig in and find out more.

Regardless I am ...

Re: "A Master of Go", iOS/iPadOS Go AI app

As far as I can tell, the 13 Pro is not taking advantage of its extra gpu core versus the regular 13 for a Master of Go. I tested both side by side, and they alternated being faster by at most 3%.

So unless y_ich can modify the code to leverage the pro's advantage, I don’t recommend buying the pro ...

Re: "A Master of Go", iOS/iPadOS Go AI app

On further experimentation, I think there is a problem with batch size. Reinstalling reset batch size to one, and it worked great.

When I reset batch size to four or more it instantly crashes when I start study. Batch size of two is inconsistent, sometimes crashing.

I’ll happily settle for batch ...

Re: "A Master of Go", iOS/iPadOS Go AI app

Dear y_ich,

When I updated the app, it repeatedly opened for one second, then crashed. I deleted and reinstalled the app, then restored katago, and that fixed everything.

On the new iPhone 13 pro, I went from 20 visits per second on the last version to nearly 200 visits per second after the fix ...

Re: "A Master of Go", iOS/iPadOS Go AI app

Hi y_ich,

I updated my A13 iPhone 11 Pro to iOS 15, (release version not beta), in preparation for migrating to a new A15 iPhone 13 Pro.

I can confirm jkal's findings that katago has greatly slowed in the new OS. I’m getting maybe 7 visits per second on version 5.15 with the updated b40c256-s1000 ...

Re: Contribute to Katago training using google colab

Is anyone else getting the message that the cannot connect to the GPU backend due to high usage rates? I’ve only been running a single instance at a time, but have been blocked for the last three days.

Re: Humans vs. Alpha Go Zero

I don't agree with you that AI is so far away. It uses almost exclusively heuristics which has always some significant blind spots that can be exploited. Give professionals enough time (not like when AlphaMaster played those 60 pros with fast pace on Tygem) and I claim that in 100 games we get a ...

Re: Humans vs. Alpha Go Zero

I assume you mean 1d EGF and 9d EGF. That would be like an even game match between a decent 1d EGF (~1900 Elo) and O Rissei 9p (~3200 Elo). That's a 1300 Elo gap, which suggests that the 1d wil win about 1 in 1800 games.

I’d like to think playing 1800 games with O'Rissei would be good for two ...

Is there a GTP GUI for iOS? AKA running katago on iPad.

Now that we know Google Colab runs katago well, I’m intrigued by the idea of linking it to a GUI in iOS.

Does anyone know if one exists?

If it exists, does this idea seem feasible?

Re: Contribute to Katago training using google colab

After a few searches, I now suspect I was connected to a P100, not A100. A huge difference of course.

I'd still guess that P100 supports CUDA though.
Again to answer my own question.

I was so excited to contribute to KataGo that I used the script a lot and Google put the breaks on my use of ...
