Re: Vann's Journal of accountability.

Game for August 30

My rival got back from two months in Pakistan. We decided to have a game. He is 8k, but wanted to play even due to not having had chance the entire time he was away. Here is the game.

Re: Vann's Journal of accountability.

August 28, 2o1o!

Ah, it's good to be back.

I'd taken a few weeks off from KGS, and the internet actually, hence my journal being blank for the past couple of weeks. I'm back now, and I decided I'd post my first game of the day.

Re: The wall

Hey. Thanks again guys for all the advice and tips. It's really got me thinking and planning on my areas to improve.

A quick side-note. I've started something formed by the British Go Association called the Shodan Challenge in which you get placed with a mentor and you work together for the next ...

Re: The wall

That was the first fast game I'd ever played. My games normally have 45 mins + 5x30 byo-yomi. The other person set that up after I joined.

Re: The wall

I'm sorry that you feel that way about my games. But I did point out that currently I am not playing to my best. Yes, my reading is off. But my teacher (1d) commented on this too, because it is usually my best attribute. Prior to these two weeks I won 19x19s, 13x13s and 9x9s. Though the latter two I ...

Re: The wall

Thank again for the advice guys. Bill, I've looked through the variations on the game you reviewed. It's funny, looking at the stuff you pointed out it really does make sense. I'll take your advice on playing some 9x9 games, I'm sure they'll help.

Again, everyone thanks for the constructive advice ...

The wall

So, I am around 12 Kyu now. I've been playing since April, and I play quite a lot.

For the past two weeks I've hit a wall. I've read many books, done loads of tsumego, played both online and offline, and here are the results of my past 20 games online:

Re: Vann's Journal of accountability.

First game of August 5th, 2010.

I... I dunno whether to be ashamed of this game (from the opening) or proud of how it resulted (I won by 49.5komi) in the end.

The past couple of days I have been playing awful. It's the slump, I think everyone gets it, in which you lose one game.. And another.. And ...

Re: Vann's Journal of accountability.

So, today I met up with my friend Basti (Germoe on KGS) who is somewhere between 1d and 1k. He joined the club in Birmingham while he was visiting from Germany and has been helping me with my Go studies.

We played three games, of which I couldn't make into an SGF. As such I'm adding to my list ...

Re: Yo!

Thanks for the info, guys. I just joined the GoDiscussions room, and will be sure to check out the book you mentioned.

Would you reccomend any minimum (or maximum) games one should play a day to improve? (or not burn out, etc.)

Re: Yo!

Thanks! I'll definitely do that!

Actually, and sections/topics you recommend for my current rank bracket?
