Getting shredded by invasions
I’m having a lot of trouble handling invasions. I can’t contain them and my stones wind up getting devoured. My strategy is lacking but my tactics are killing me. Any suggestions for a book or two to help improve my defenses?

Are cities preferable for some reason?
Rural areas can't handle 400+ people descending on them, plus they don't have big airports. I don't want to double my travel costs and sleep in a barn.
I didn't know you were so picky.
I was thinking more about big city vs. suburban venues. Access by ...

2011 Go Congress to be in Santa Barbara. Any thoughts for 2012? 2013? 2014? We need to plan further ahead, the way those earnest Europeans do...

The University of Maryland might be a good spot if you're looking for an east coast US venue.

Just out of curiosity, how many people attend these Congresses?

Re: Guide to go websites/apps/internet "stuff"
Is there a single website that provides a guide to most of the go related things on the Internet, at least the internet in English or other European languages. I suspect most things are linked to by Senseis, but not from a unified location, as far as I'm aware.

Re: Facebook
There's also a KGS group assuming that you play on there:

Yes I do. I might as well live on KGS. I'm surprised I didn't think to look for this stuff on Facebook. Thanks for pointing these out. Do you know any other good ones?

Re: Facebook
I hope this doesn't sound like a weird request, but would anyone like to add me on FaceBook? The reason behind this is that I have absolutely zero people on my list that understand my interest in Go. I'd like to have more people on my list that enjoy Go so that way I can prove to my family and ...

Re: Kiseido books - US-based supplier?
I've ordered several books from Kiseido this year at different times. All of them have been shipped from Kiseido's distribution (or whatever) office in California, with the exception of the latest Go World. Are you guys SURE they shipped directly from Japan? If they arrived within a few business ...

Re: direction of play
I tried to read the Kajiwara book "direction of play" but found it too abstract.
For example, in a game commentary, he analyzes several joseki that could be played in that specific board position up to 30 moves ahead. Then he chooses the best one and says "since this joseki gives the best result ...

At least you folks can buy your stones. When I was your age, we had to make our own. Out of hot lava. With our bare hands.

Re: The Shining Moment
I have experienced, in a number of ways, what I like to call the 'shining moment'. Other people have other names. This moment is almost always achieved, for me, in competition. I have, occasionally, felt it after a particularly deep session of meditation, but it is much easier for me to achieve ...
