Re: 38th Meijin
Iyama Yuta won the 5th game by 4.5 to become the new Meijin, and hold at the same time all the 3 big Japanese Go Tournaments!

Re: 2013 Asia TV Cup
Iyama Yuuta definitely has his place in at least the world Top 10 players (I'd say even in the Top 5). Too bad the Japanese are still not interested very much in the international tournaments

Re: Korean client?
I believe that Koreans aren't very fond of KGS (and who can blame them with the amount of others bigger local servers they have), but i have seen some Koreans playing with a Korean client (an ex is Korondo 9d).

Re: 2013 LG cup
Well, for a nation (Japan) that's considered the weakest in go nowadays, they did pretty great. That's even more apparent when u see that they only had 4 representatives in the whole tournament ! Maybe if Yamashita Keigo has played they'd have another on in the next round! As for South Korea, this ...

Re: Resisting "nothing to lose" opponents.
I believe the most important thing that you need to defeat those opponents more frequently is better reading. Studying fuseki is also very important to start the game in a balanced way that is easier to manage for you, add to that better reading and you'll be able to evaluate how secure are your ...

Re: Are joseki boring?
My vision on the joseki matter is that if someone is just playing for fun and doesn't really care much about improving beyond a certain level (low dan), then learning josekis can be useless and even boring for him. But for someone who wants to excel and hopefully reach the higher ranks someday ...

Re: tygem sgf files
You'll find the games in the "C:\Users\YourSessionName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\TygemGlobal\Games" path in Win7 (at least that's where my games are).
The games are in the .gib format so you'll have to convert them into sgf (i use multigo for that).
Hope that helps

Re: Looking for Some Serious-ish Games
You'll easily achieve under 2hours for a game with even higher time settings, usually with 15min + 3x30 a game (that reaches yose) doesn't go beyond the hour mark for me. Anyway, if you ever wanna play a game u can buzz me when u see me online =)!

Re: Looking for Some Serious-ish Games
I'm also interested in your offer, although I'm not sure how fast you're planning on playing (uptempo afaik means a quite fast rhythm), but as long as it's not blitz (which i have no interest in) it shouldn't be a big issue for me. I Haven't played much on KGS lately so it would be a good ...

Tygem on Linux using Wine!
I was wondering whether Tygem was working properly on linux using wine? And if yes, is there some functions that are not working?

Re: Can fast go be good for you?
If i might share my personal opinion on this topic, I believe fast go has absolutely no interest for me at the time being. I believe that to be able to actually benefit from fast go one needs to be a mid-dan at least. In my personal opinion, playing fast go while not having the reading, shape ...

Re: Anyone tried learning Korean specifically for Baduk?
I'm actually studying Korean for the sole purpose of being able to use it to read Baduk books in the future (although i didn't have so much time to study it lately). After more than 6months of studies (in an official class at the uni twice per week), I think I'd need at least 2 more years before ...

Re: Tygem Opening Guide / Score Estimator
I always turn off the score estimator feature when playing on tygem, i'd rather push myself to count. As for the opening dictionary i thought that only worked for people who have at least a "plus" account
