Re: game memory
I definitely don't have a Polaroid moment. When I memorize pro games, for example, I couldn't start at one corner and lay the stones out on the board like I had a complete picture of the entire position in my head.
My 'memory' of the game is sequential. I only memorize the next moves in relation ...

Re: Do you want to be great?
From the amount of discussion I see among go players about rank and progress I think it is safe to say that we as go players fit this bill. One point this book makes is that when we shift mindsets we actually free ourselves up to make greater progress.

I will soon have 5 children. There's no bigger mark on the World to aim for than bringing up sound well balanced kids - I just need to make sure I put the effort and time in, and I'll die a happy man

RazorBrain's Go Journal
I was browsing the An Appreciation of Go (Marcus' Study Journal) earlier and I noticed several people commenting on working through the games of one or more professionals. That got me thinking. . . .

Re: Digitally projected go board
The clams are rejoicing. Just think no more 'stones' needed!
Will future generations of go players someday write articles on how go players used to hold the stones between middle and index fingers when placing a stone? Perhaps.
This technology reminds me of the overlays many sports broadcasts are ...

W+18.5 How does black get it back?
Played a game last night and felt pretty good about it, except for the 18.5 white lead at the end LOL. As I went back through it, I didn't spot one obvious blunder (doesn't mean there isn't one, eh?). Your opinions and comments are appreciated!

Re: Any suggestion on how to embed eidogo on wordpress?
You could use my EidoGo for Wordpress plugin that makes it all easy.
Thanks for the info about your plugin. I've installed it on my new self-hosted version of my blog and it works great!

I'd skip the mural board. If the videos are online, use CGoban and do screencasting. It is hard to follow someone manually using a board. Since you are going for online videos use technology

Re: How to celebrate new years as as SDK.
It is easy and perhaps natural to set goals for ourselves. But perhaps we set ones that do as much harm as good, meaning that when we reach for a goal and then begin slipping, we tend to give up easier.
Reaching SDK by new years is a worthy endeavor. But perhaps that is your desire and the goal ...

Re: Girlfriend And Go
As for the whole discussion "why women don't play more go", I think it's just the brainwashing. Girls are told that they're not analytical enough for things like maths, chess, and computers. They end up believing it so much they don't even try. As a computer engineer playing go, I suppose I qualify ...
