Re: Would you behave differently without the KGS rank graph?

The ranking graph is pretty useful to me.
I see my rank graph and it's a warning sign telling me that I have to start working on game.
It also tells me what kind of seasonal pattern I took and where the graph dropped at the same time my marks fell. (then try to fix it)

It's odd, I don't frequent ...

Re: Who's your Go Idol ?

Miao's playing was amazing at one point in time. The last time I watched it, it was stiff. It's probably because it was after a whole day of him playing.

I'm starting to play the amazing joseki inventions of Takemiya, they make for a really awesome position.

Gan Siyang, Gu Li, Go Seigen, Cho ...

Re: Shodan is how easy to achieve?

Re: topic: It's easy to be shodan, that's why everyone is doing it!

It's a psychological barrier. Just like when SL celebrated its 10,000th page. Otherwise, what's so magical about the number 10,000, or 1 dan for that matter. (Actually, SL just passed its 20,000th page.)

Edit: Exactly!!!

If ...

A forfeit. It's odd. I don't understand

I just want to know what my opponent was thinking when he forfeited at move 28. It seems so odd, he was fine-ish, and I don't even think that I can connect my two groups. I'm black btw.

Re: Territory vs. Moyo vs. Fighting Styles

I think that it's not the total strength that determines which path we take, but the way that we gain that strength.

When someone high approaches your komoku (and you want to play there and there aren't any special cases), you probably would attach under if you were territorial. If you were moyo ...

I'll need to fan minipogo. He plays lighter than you, prophet (I think).
I would definitely want to see more games.
Since this conversation has degraded so, I believe 100% that this is his child playing. If I can't believe the guy who talks the most in shy's lessons and still improving at a rapid ...

Re: Is this unethical

Resigning games which you still can win is unethical, and anyone doing it on KGS should be deranked.
(And preferably permanently banned from the server. )

Go is an art, winning is not the only propose. If played too ugly, like climbing on the second line, rather resign.
anyone who derank others ...

Re: Feature proposal for Game End Handling

I would actually be against this. It would feel a little fake. It's not exactly the same as actually typing it out, since i would like to feel that another person is on the other side.

I would actually be happy to see a "bon partie" or a "danke" from the opponent. It has a unite the world kind of ...

Re: Terrain Go

I'm not sure, but it could appear in the near future (if it didn't appear already). I'm sure most people up to 10k has thought of it at least once.
I was thinking that if all the hoshis were all dropped, then there would be more diagonal approaches.
The game play would be slightly different, but I ...

Paradigm shifts

This has been touched on a lot, but I haven't seen it a coined term. The topic "I'm stuck" is one example.

Paradigm shifts: Periodic scientific revolutions.
Since I'm lazy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradigm_shift This explains paradigm shift.

Re: Rengo tournament discussion

it sounds like fun!

To me, the weighted average is the only solution.

The ranks in L19 are mostly in the range of 8k-2dan, so I highly doubt that there's going to be too much of a hassle.

That being said, I will now counter my argument with an enigma:
I think 8kyus are at the stage where you ...

-it has a heart and soul.
-it is the only server that I feel happy playing in.
-there are so many enjoyable high dans to watch.
-you can watch fast even games between strong players at nearly every given time.
-their ranking system is effective.

The only reason I would even contemplate playing on ...

Actually, I would like if people did not make them in the first place.
I'd like to make a recommendation of this place called "Not The Internet" that you might like.
I make more mistakes off it than on
I would also prefer people editing their work before they post.
