Re: Triple Ko in Korea

IIRC Lee Sedol had an unusual high rate of void games by triple and quadruple kos. It was discussed if it was a consequence of his fighting style or a strategy he displayed when things didn't go well for him.

Re: Fujita Reo Kansai Kiin Pro Aged 9

It looks like there is influence of Reo Messi's fame both in the name choice and in the youtubers pronunciaton. Funny enough, Messi's name is Lionel so you can find both nicknames "Lío" and "Leo" (which normally comes from "Leonardo", a more common name in previous years, and is easier to pronounce ...

I don't remember the details, but EGF changes systems at 5p. The details were here , but I seem to recall something on the lines you ask.

Take care

Re: Shake, rattle and rule

If we transfer this thinking to go, we can say that the reason we have pros is to produce game records, preferably of Messi-like quality. When spectacle fans play over games, they usually don't know what the time limits are, and quite possibly don't even care. Or what the prize money was. All they ...

Re: Shake, rattle and rule

My take is that Yang Dinxin is a World-Class top player so being able to pull out an upset against him, even in byo-yomi, is a remarkable feat.Let's not forget that he got to a better position by using all his time. If the situation were reversed maybe Shin could have parried Yang's attack or even ...

Kobayashi Satoru pointed out a myoshu in the center that Cho missed
From what I could get, he pointed out the winning move (three in a line) and said it was amazing that Cho found in 5 seconds

White won the five games on the final and so Mi Yuting wins his second MLily Cup.
Game 5 featured a huge center territory by B, followed by huge ko exchanges.

Redmond made a live comment on game 3

John F. made a remark in another thread about the AI style and territory but Mi Yuting won game 1 with a giant moyo and game 3 getting territory in the center from a severe attack. I've seen Shin Jinseo and Gu Zhihao do the same. I ...

It looks like she has to win one more before Cho. She plays the winner of Komatsu Hideki vs Tanaka Yuki? Then Cho Sonjin, then Michael Redmond if she keeps winning.
