I just had a persistent "instant logout" problem where seconds after a successful login I would be logged out. This was in Firefox 3.6.9, while IE was well behaved. Removing all cookies containing "19x" seemed to solve the problem. (Clicking "remove site cookies" on the main page didn't help, nor ...
