Re: Would this be a good board for my stones?

That looks pretty cool. I would want one if it wouldn't be so much to ship because of the weight. Am I right in looking for a shin kaya board though? I read that some wood is harder than others, so I don't want to crack the stones or anything.

Re: Would this be a good board for my stones?

So it seems. Oh well, YMI stocks this stuff all the time. I was just looking for a Japanese standard size table board that is thick enough to last a while, but I don't really want to spend too much on it.

This might be a good deal on a kaya floor goban

http://cgi.ebay.com/JAPANESE-VINTAGE-GO ... 4cf6be105f

Including shipping, it looks like this will be under $100. I don't know if it is real kaya though, since the wood looks like it's the wrong color. Figured I should post it anyway since a floor goban 3.5" at this price is a pretty damn good deal.

Re: Would this be a good board for my stones?

Ok, thanks. I remember reading somewhere to clean them with an egg, so I just wanted to double check since that seemed kind of ridiculous.

Would this be a good board for my stones?

While I was over in Japan last summer, I picked up a set of size 28 shell and slate stones, and I'm pretty sure the shell is Jitsuyo grade since all the pictures I've seen of it look like my stones. I didn't get a board since I didn't want to risk it breaking on the way home...we all know how those ...

Board help?

So while I was in Japan this summer, I managed to pick up a really nice set of shell & slate stones. Problem is, I didn't actually get a board due to not wanting it to break on the way home. I don't really know what kind of board would be right for these kind of stones, or if it really even matters ...

Re: Anybody here play an instrument?

It kinda sucks that most of you decided to quit what you played...I could seriously never see myself quitting playing cello or composing, but that probably has something to do with the fact that I'm a music major hellbent on having a career in music.

Re: Anybody here play an instrument?

Doesn't it get boring to not be in an ensemble after a while though? I didn't make it into my college's symphony this year and ended up getting placed in a sightreading class, and I've been bored out of my mind. I hate not having any concerts or recitals to look forward to. Good thing I'm learning ...

Re: Anybody here play an instrument?

That's cool. Do you play in an orchestra or just for the fun of it?

Anybody here play an instrument?

Me being a musician myself, I was just curious if anyone here played as well. I've just been playing the cello the past 7 years, but I've been attempting to learn the piano again. Besides that, I also compose music. What about you guys?

Hi!

So I'm new to here, but not go. I started in middle school because I thought hikaru no go was pretty neat (lol) and was 17k on KGS, but then for some brilliant reason I decided to not play anymore. I kinda got back into it before I went to Japan this past summer, and ended up getting a nice set of ...
