The games on Foxwq server:

Game 31: black2012 = Li Qincheng
Game 37: pyh = Park Yeonghun
Game 38: 天选 = Tuo Jiaxi

How can we see those games if we don't have an account on foxwq? Did master win all of those games as well?

I also want to see these game live, but the registration and installation of fox is very.... inconvenience
But it look like a home of mass Chinese players, 4000+ people observe Master vs. Iyama Yuta game

But right now, all I did is dig information through Google, Facebook, Twitter, like this

And yes, it won all game, right now it's playing 11th game with Kim Jiseok

Also, Yamato (of Zen) spot twitter news headline about AlphaGo (but not related to Master)
On 29 December the name of Master in Tygem is still Magist, and change into Master on 30 December (the day this news was tweeted)
Coincident? (my twitter timezone is UTC +7)

Anyone know what time settings they are playing on? I'm assuming they are playing with at least 30 second byomi. But I'm guessing since it sounds like 10 games are being played a day, they aren't very long games, and the pros aren't able to play at their best because of it.

Regardless, I've looked at several games so far and the way the program beats them, there appears to be a large gap in skill level between it and the pros.

From what I search, 20 seconds 3 byoyomi periods while in Tygem and 30 seconds in Fox server, both have no main time.

Re: “AlphaGo” vs. “Master”:

One thing I always had in mind when I read the name “AlphaGo” is this:

And now this:

Wikipedia wrote:
A copy of the RTM build known as the "gold master" or GM is sent for mass duplication.
(emphasis added by me)

(cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_ ... life_cycle)

Of course this can all be mere coincidence ;) But words and names are interesting, aren’t they?

This could also explain why Aja Huang was NOT lying when he said that AlphaGo would play under the name of “AlphaGo[Bot]” if she would play :-)

And another archive with Master(P) games, already posted elsewhere here by GoRo:

http://www.go-baduk-weiqi.de/masterp-sc ... go-profis/ (41 games, they still contain a few ???)

The site is in German, all you really need to know is that “gegen” means “against” or “versus” (“vs.”)

So 41-0 atm. It's playing about 10 games a day, from 10am local time in China to 10pm.

Kang Dongyun (Game 43) and Shi Yue (Game 45) challenged Master for the first time and lost by resign respectively.

I started a thread to study some of Master's interesting moves: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=13929.

Also some comments on Ohashi Hirofumi 6p's blog in Japanese on Master vs Iyama Yuta: http://blog.goo.ne.jp/minamijyuujisei_1 ... ca7943cf85.

Has anyone seen this posted from the deepmind team?
I've looked at their website and twitter ( Demis Hassabi, DeepMindAI) and cannot find anything
edit: Also, why is the sentence "I'm Dr. Huang of AlphaGo" and not "I'm Dr. Huang of Deepmind"?

  • Would this necessarily mean that it was AlphaGo that played? What do we know about DeepMind’s naming scheme? Following the naming traditions in software development—could BetaGo GammaGo (Gold?) “Master” be a similar (i.e. further “evolved”) engine, but perhaps totally self-trained instead of having been trained with professional games?

  • I don't really know about tradition in the academic field … how common is it that a graduated person introduces themselves as “Dr. NN” rather than “Firstname Lastname”? (Yes, I know that “Dr.” is used as part of the name)

  • What about the possibility of “three-brain” playing (as Ingo Althöfer calls it): a bot-assisted human player?

Ke Jie confirmed on weibo as well: http://weibo.com/u/2865101843

Translation: "Thanks for the shock and awe the latest version of AlphaGo provided us. As someone who knew its identity from the beginning, I'd have loved to see us human winning a blitz game. If not for being in the hospital, I'd have tried one last response that I prepared for a week...slight regret, and hope Gu Li can play to the best of our human ability in this final game of AlphaGo beta test."

Well after going through many of the games. I've learned a new proverb. When your opponent builds a wall early, attack it immediately to reduce it's influence and potential. AlphaGo typically ends up making territory while doing this or it's own influence potential.
