Was reading on cyberoro, and saw this article: http://cyberoro.com/news/news_view.oro? ... num=526321. The general pro exam/tournament for the top 64 started January 14th, and at the tournament, one of the contestants was found having a bluetooth earphone, and lost by disqualification. Apparently it’s possible that he had some sort of mini camera around the area of one of his buttons on his jacket, which transmit the board position to someone that was giving him hints remotely. He could potentially get hints with the earphone.

I guess some folks want to get into the pro world by cheating.

Still intermediate Korean, but I think the cheater admitted to it in a written statement. In the article you linked it's a bit unclear who submitted the statement but in this one they are more clear:

https://news.chosun.com/site/data/html_ ... 00301.html

He says he met the "broker" on the internet, and doesn't know his identity. The broker mailed him the camera and for payment the broker said "let's discuss it after you qualify as pro".

For the tourny, they search players to make sure they have no electronics, but the cheater didn't have the earphone on at the time. Also the cheater hid the earphone inside a bandage (see cartoon in the chosun article lol).

Yeah, the cheater gave a written statement. In the article I linked:

Quote:
15일 오전 10시10분, 이 선수는 한국기원에 와서 진술서를 썼다.

I wasn’t clear to me that he didn’t have the headphones on during the initial search - he had a bandage on his left ear, so it may have been hidden at that time, but I may have missed something.

Also, they asked the participants if they wanted to postpone the tournament, but folks wanted the tournament to continue.

Thanks for the other article. Sometimes the articles on cyberoro are a little lacking.
