Hey guys,
Having just started a malkovich game and never having posted a diagram before, I noticed there wasn't an obvious how-to thread floatin' around.

I realize most of you are old hand at this, but for the people a bit behind, like me;

You get the "diagram code" either by copying/pasting it from somewhere/someone else('s game's beginning) or you can get it from a client like Drago by saying File>Export Position and choose ASCII.

You can modify it in something like Drago, or by hand, referencing http://senseis.xmp.net/?HowDiagramsWork, which is what I've wound up doing as Drago seems to speak a slightly different language to the forum diagrams.

Then you wrap your diagram in [ go ] tags (you can select all the text and click the "go" button up top).

If anyone knows a better way to do something than above, or otherwise cares to elaborate, please do.
Perhaps this should be in the "beginners" section, I wasn't 100% sure where to put it.

Have fun posting Diagrams

I was going to post on that malkovich topic with some diagram help, but you told people not to post until dfan did, if I remember correctly.

There's a better way to create diagrams: http://senseis.xmp.net/?GenerateDiagramFromSGF

Once you get familiar with it, however, the format is easy to edit by hand, so I usually just click "show diagram code" from the previous player, change his move into a normal white/black stone, and put down my own.

We'll be setting up a sticky for that in the Intro+guidelines section.

I was always partial to my own post here: http://www.godiscussions.com/forum/show ... stcount=26

but you guys have added so many more new features, that my post is now way out-of-date.

Wow, I'm sad for recognising that as the second Hikaru vs Akira game :(

I did that last night. And I didn't even know that this thread existed.
