Is it commonknowledge that mirror go is bad?it doesnt take place in pro games at all,but are all confident how to punish it? Just wonder how you feel about it.

Mirror go is a valid strategy but weakly studied.

It doesn't work with white and neither black unless black has at least a one-stone handicap, most likely . . .

Mirror Go was studied and played by Fujisawa Hosai 9p, see John Fairbairn's book "9 Dan Showdown" - Fujisawa said "if it's so bad logically, prove it - in games". See the four pages starting at page 7. Go Seigen famously played mirror go against Kitani in their first ever game in 1929 up to move 64.

Don't underestimate mirror go......

Take care - John

It might be interesting to see if you could use could use mirror go successfully against the world's top AI with a one stone handicap, considering they can give the top pros three stones.

If black has a two-stone handicap or greater of course mirror go should always win for black!
