I'm off for holidays, so I won't see any responses for a while, so Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and so forth. In any case, I just played my last game before taking off to a place with no internet access, and it was a rather exciting game, in which I almost killed off a nice group but made a mistake and nonetheless managed to build a nice wall and then pulled off an elegant stifling of my opponent's attemt to break into the center and the game was quite close until I boneheaded.
The thing about a go game, is that you have to be on top of things all the time. No lapses allowed. Of course we all make mistakes and play sub-optimally and so forth, but an opponent of equal strength will do the same, and it just comes down to doing your best every move. Not just most of the time.
I was really ticked off at myself for losing my concentration, and I really would have liked to go into my break without having lost on a blunder, but so be it. It's easy to get down on yourself when things like this happen, but that is not a good attitude. I'd like to have the right attitude, but I don't. Do you have the right attitude?
Just something to think about over the holidays. Have a good one.
