I know this has been discussed before on GD (Go players are in general smarter?), but I've recently heard a japanese player say there was a study about Go's effect on dementia, saying go players had 30% less chances of having it.
Does anyone know where I can find this study?

The doctor that's referenced to claim that Go has an effect on dementia is Dr. Kaneko Matsuo, and if you wanted the article by him on this subject it'd be in Japanese. The Go reference is probably found in this article: http://sciencelinks.jp/j-east/article/1 ... 465640.php

There have been a lot of studies showing that those who "exercise" their brains will have less likelihood of dementia. It's not only go, but also things like playing cards or doing crossword puzzles. Basically, don't be a couch potato.
