I'm a beginner go student, and I'm trying to find some freeware software that solves tsumego problems. It is not really important, but is quite surprising that I cannot find any...
The most promising is XuanXuan, which states on its page that tsumego resolver is free from version 9: but even after finally being able to manage it, the program says that this feature is under payment when I click the button that should solve... Am I doing something wrong? Is tsumego solver really free in XuanXuan?

The best free tsumego solver software I'm aware of is GoTools by Thomas Wolf.
http://lie.math.brocku.ca/GoTools/index ... tent=about
It is written in MSDOS so you will probably need to use a program such as DOSBox to run it on PCs.
It seems to use brute force to solve problems so it is VERY time consuming but when and if a problem is solved the results seem quite accurate.
It's limitation mainly is that it can only solve problems which are fully enclosed.

GoTools does not use brute force search, which is why it became the only tsumego solver to be able to solve 5 dan problems. It is quite sophisticated. :) But yes, it does take a long time to solve difficult problems. I have not used it for around 10 years, so it probably takes less time now. ;)

There is a program called Panda Sensei which beat some of the world's top pros in a tsumego solving competition a year or two ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAqXq4pFtNs

A quick search finds this app:

(I don't know if the pro-beating version was on a more powerful computer than a phone)

Not exactly a freeware. If I recall correctly, you will eventually need to spend money to purchase Panda Coins for solving tsumegos with the program.
