I see that this went uncommented so far

The World Student Pair Go took place at the weekend. As so often seems to be the case, Korea dominated.
http://www.pairgo.or.jp/amateur/29th/wo ... ndex_e.htm Czech came in 8th.

I think at the same time the IAPGC took place
http://www.pairgo.or.jp/amateur/29th/pl ... ults_e.htm Outside the big names, Singapore, Germany and the USA managed to both pick up 3 wins

I don't know what time limits were used in the events, but I imagine that it was 30 minutes sudden death. The micro managed schedule of the event demands such haste, though why all other Pair Go events deem it sensible to copy those limits I just don't know.

For what it's worth, Pair Go events in Seattle have been run with 45 minutes sudden death. This year, there was some discussion about softening the time control a little -- some folks find it stressful, we were told. We considered adding a 2-seconds delay to the start of each move, which I think is common in Chess games with a time limit of a minute or so. And we considered adding a brief byo-yomi of 3 periods of 10 seconds. We decided to keep it straight sudden death for now, but for the future, I think we're going to do a survey and see what the players prefer.
