One development I was hoping to see was the engagement of European professionals in more of the preliminaries of major tournaments. Which seems to be a silly development to see as one of the important, admittedly, however, I do think that while it's impossible now, perhaps in 10-20 years a European Professionals may actually pass one of these preliminaries (with a stroke of luck,), so we might as well start somewhere.

Mateusz Surma 1p-Li Biqi 2p
Ali Jabarin 1p-v-Juan Ihung 1p does anyone know the result of this match?

Elom is talking about the 3rd Bailing Cup's open preliminary tournament.

Ali actually won that game against the young Taiwanese player, but he lost in the 2nd round to Lee Changseok 2-dan of Korea.

Talking about chance, Bailing Cup is the easiest to qualify. There are 48 seats from the preliminary tournament. Most players only need three wins in a row to qualify.

Next year the EGF Professional Committee should be created. When that happens, I suppose that the professionals may have more hope of access to different tournaments made by other professional organisations, because they would presumably have some professional staff whose full time job would be to manage them.
