I saw a game between Shibano Toramaru and Kang Dongyun from this tournament. I'd previously heard nothing about it. Does anyone have any information? http://www.go4go.net/go/games/sgfview/56043

Aside pro tournament, total 1,000 amatuer players from Korea and overseas attended for International Children Baduk Festival and had a lot of events and enjoyed time all together. They also had a tour around Kangjin province such as visiting Bigeumdo which is the place Lee Sedol 9P was born.

The Name Kuksu Mountains comes from area where Kim In, Cho Hoonhyun and Lee Sedol were from. They imply each player as mountain.

This tournament has 2 parts:Pair tournament and Team tournament.

Here is a wiki page entry, describing it (in Korean):
https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EA%B5%AD ... 0%ED%9A%8C

Quote:

Rough translation:
The Kuksu Mountain Cup Baduk Tournament is sponsored by the Junranam prefecture (Gangjin-gun, Youngan-gun, Sinan-gun) where Kim In 9d, Cho Hunhyun 9d, and Lee Sedol 9d are from (previous Kuksu). The team league is held between Korean and Chinese top players, with the winner being decided in a 3 round league. There are two sections, "International Pro Baduk Tournament" (with group tournament and international pair tournament) and "International Children's Baduk Festival" (where children from around the world can participate); the tournament happen for 3 days at the three towns listed above (Gangjin-gun, Youngan-gun, Sinan-gun). From the 3rd year of the tournament (I think, from this year, actually) Japan and Taiwan also participated, and it's changed to become a tournament for these 4 teams, with pairings decided by drawing (before, it was only China vs. Korea).

In this years edition of the tournament it seems, that Lee Sedol lost by time against Fan Yin (7p) ... but strangely that last black move ist still given

This is used to be a 3-on-3 team tournament, but this year it's changed to an individual championship. It started out with 16 players, and the semifinal matches were just completed:

Park Junghwan beat Liao Yuanhe by resign
Wang Yuanjun beat Kim Jiseok by 0.5 point

Final:
Park Junghwan vs. Wang Yuanjun

Well done Wang Yuanjun, it's not often a Taiwanese player goes so far (since Zhou Junxun won 2007 LG cup?).

Park Junghwan won the final though.
