Is he happy or upset about his position?

That's pretty normal for Ilya, as is the looking into opponent's eyes like saying "Whatcha gonna do now, punk?". Puts terror into the hearts of European amateurs, Asian pros not so much. :)

Piles?

More seriously, this link illustrates a problem that irritates me most days, but I'm hoping the wealth of people with computer experience on this forum might include someone who can tell me how to avoid it.

The problem is that some sites seem to disable my back button while I'm there. In other words, when I went to the above link, I had to exit the browser and reload it to get back here. This has long seemed standard with pdf files but it seems to be spreading fast to other formats. How do I skirt round this obnoxious behaviour?

Allied to that, I also detect a growing trend for html pages to be made unprintable. Or is it my paranoia?

I can report that it did not give me problem on Chrome (browser). But I am running Chrome on a ancient Windows XP machine so not sure about newer OS.

IMX, when I have run into that problem, pressing and holding the back button will produce a list of previous pages you can choose. Usually you only have to go past the previous page or two to get past the obnoxious behavior. (Your back button actually works, but the previous link reloads your present page.)

If that does not work, there is probably a History tab on the top line of your browser. You can click it and choose a page from it. :)

Another thing I often do is just open a link like the one in question in a new tab, and then just close the tab when I am done with the page. My wife does that, but she ends up with a gazillion tabs open. ;)

Pairing of round of 32

Like xiayun said, there is no re-draw until final 16 so we can pretty much figure out who's playing who from round 64 results. I am posting the pairing just to make it more obvious and easier to post results later.

1. Huang Xin 4p (CN) vs Zhang Xuan 8p (CN)
2. Choi Cheolhan 9p (KR) vs Lee Sedol 9p (KR)
3. Chen Yaoye 9p (CN) vs Ryan Li 1p (CA)
4. Tong Mengcheng 6p (CN) vs Park Yeonghun 9p (KR)
5. Chen Zijian 4p (CN) vs Lu Minquan 4p (CN)
6. Han Taehee 6p (KR) vs Fan Yunruo 6p (CN)
7. Wang Haoyang 6p (CN) vs DeepZenGo (JP, AI)
8. Tang Weixing 9p (CN) vs Tan Xiao 8p (CN)
9. Gao Yu 3p (CN) vs He Yang 1p (CN)
10. Huang Jingyuan 3p (CN) vs Ke Jie 9p (CN)
11. Xie Ke 3p (CN) vs Li Zhe 6p (CN)
12. Guo Yuzheng 5p (CN) vs Li Xuanhao 6p (CN)
13. Kono Rin 9p (JP) vs Rong Yi 5p (CN)
14. Wang Tao 6p (CN) vs Takao Shinji 9p (JP)
15. Liao Yuanhe 5p (CN) vs Na Hyun 6p (KR)
16. Park Junghwan 9p (KR) vs Zhou Ruiyang 9p (CN)

We are going to see fresh faces in the round of 16, especially with a few highly ranked players going against each other (Choi vs. Lee, Tang vs. Tan, Park vs. Zhou). All three Japanese players (DeepZenGo included) as well as two remaining female players have solid chances, and we'll have at least two 4p-or-lower players advancing.

P.S. Good win for female Lu Minquan 4p who I hadn't heard of before, maybe one of the biggest upsets of the round. Goratings has her at #387 (3080) vs Han at #82 (3332) so 19% win chance.
P.P.S Wang beating Shin was 16%.

Yes of course! Thanks for posting in the right format!

...

Noooo!
Neither my eight-year-old monitor nor my 64-year-old eyes handle contrast as well as they used to. Wolfking's list is much clearer for me. :)

Thanks very much for posting the updates! Uberdude, do you mind if i use some of your stats in the broadcast?

(BTW, the AGA will try and broadcast Ryan's game vs Chen Yaoye tomorrow, and we'll also go between that game and the Zen game. Jennie Shen 2p comments, starting 10:30pm PDT (UTC-7), june 20th.)

No games today, 2nd round is tomorrow. Assuming it follows a similar schedule to the previous edition 3rd and 4th round will be in a month or two, with semi-final around November and final around end/new year.

Next round will be held in August, but yeah, they can use an improved version by rule.

No they will always use the latest bestest :) Joke aside Kato Hideki did say that if DeepZenGo get into round of 16 he will be more confident to face Ke Jie because DZG will have more time to develop, so it appears they will be using a new version.

I think using an upgraded version isn't fair, even if DeepZenGo doesn't share the rate of improvement of Alpha Go.

If the rule allows this, now I tend to agree with Ke Jie that bot shouldn't participate in human tournament.

I agree that the program that enters the tournament should play the whole tournament. On the same or equivalent hardware, OC. A new, improved version is a different program, IMO. Even if the rules allow development, Hideki should stick with the same program throughout.

FWIW, I had hoped that DeepZenGo would win this tournament, and then that would be the last time that a computer program would be allowed to enter it. But if it does so with a new version, that would leave a bad taste in my mouth.
