Shame, I was kinda hoping for an all Korea final given how few of them started out!

An all-Korea final is still possible. I understand after the group final, it is going to be A1 vs. B2 and B1 vs. A1, before the best-of-3 final.

Thanks! Just realized that. This next round only determines the positions for the semifinal matches.

Jiang beat Chen,
Park beat Shin
so that means the semi-finals will be Park vs Chen and Jiang vs Shin?

Shin Jinseo won the 2nd game by 2.5 so we get a decider tomorrow, can Shin fulfil his promise and win his first international title, or will wily Chen's experience prevail?

P.S. Merry Christmas!

He has already won the 4th Globis Cup.

You obviously mean "major international title" but there's a case to be made to say he is yet to win any major title, depending on how you regard the GS Caltex Cup in its post-modern manifestation, or the JTBC Cup - to which most people would say "the what?" and so that hardly seems major. Still, he's only 18.

Yes, Shin's career has some parallels with Park Junghwan, rapid rise to the top of top pro land and various rating lists, but feeling somewhat overdue for his first international title given how well he does in other games (e.g. Korean and Chinese leagues). Park won his first, the Fujitsu cup in 2011 aged 18, but by then he'd already collected a fair bit of domestic silverware.

Chen got the black again in the deciding game, and the two essentially repeated the opening from Game 2, albeit in different orders, until Chen played move 29 to cut for a different corner exchange.

Great to see Chen's consistency over the years. It's been 11 years since he won his first international title, when he beat Park Junghwan (world #1 at the time) and Lee Sedol (#3) at Chunlan Cup. He also need to beat Ke Jie in the best of 5 final for his second title when Ke Jie was No. 1, so he has certainly risen to the challenge each time.

xiayun, I think you mixed things up a bit. Chen got his 9d 11 years ago for getting 2 runner-ups in international tournaments and did well in domestic events (notably 8 Tianyuan titles in a row), but he didn't win his first international (the Chunlan) until 2013.

Ah, sorry, thanks for the correction!
