Ms. Kagawa Manao, 3p.

But for a few references like chaturanga, it could've been about Go :)

That brings back a lot memories for me, Ed - thanks! I spent a lot of time at the shogi headquarters in Sendagaya with the West's Mr Shogi, George Hodges. We were allowed to sleep in the pro bedrooms there and in the evenings could play with the posh equipment in the tatami rooms, and have breakfast with pros next morning.

Since George and I were trying to convert western chess players to shogi, one little detail had us in stitches every day, after breakfast. The toilet paper in the loos there was a brand called (in English letters) CHESS. We used it liberally.

For some time I'd thought Go and Shogi were both housed at the Nihon Kiin ( similar to the situation in Beijing ), but no.

Wonderful video, thank you very much for sharing Ed!

I was very surprised to see that shogi players use the same fingers for piece placements and moves, just like in go - now I have to ask: which game started first, which copied the other? I guess go must have started first, since I think it has a longer history than shogi.

Another surprise: I never tried to play Werewolf with 13 people, must be really complex!

That's my guess, too. I remember some Korean TV show with ancient Go pieces that were actual, jagged stones/pebbles.

Hadn't heard of it until this clip. Is it this one ?

It is a party game, not a board game: https://www.wikihow.com/Play-Werewolf-(Party-Game)

Hi Sorin,

Thanks.
A wise friend once warned about Diplomacy.
I wonder how a WerewolfZero would fare... :)
