We've again had another bout of the copy-paste existing human-written text and add some invisible links spam bots (e.g. forum/viewtopic.php?p=218401#p218401, viewtopic.php?p=218403#p218403, viewtopic.php?p=218404#p218404). I reported these as spam when I did my morning look at L19 (around 9 am GMT+1), but they weren't deleted and Bill even wasted his time responding to it. Do we perhaps have a shortage of admins to delete these spammy posts in European timezones?

I think we do have a shortage. There's only one EU member who's a mod that I know of (tealeaf), and I don't recall seeing him around recently. There's a few others whose locations I don't know about.

Btw: I'm on that list because I was going to do some dev work that never happened, but don't view myself as authorized to do anything other than remove blatant spam.

Edit: clarify a few mods whose locations I don't know about.

I agree - it's a good idea to have another mod. I'll start a discussion with the other admins/mods.

So I'm a mod now (but have refrained from putting on my mod hat against humans like djhbrown as I was interacting with him as a normal user) and have deleted a few spam posts, but actually the most common thing I do using my new-found powers is mistakenly edit other people's posts instead of quoting them to reply (as the two buttons are adjacent and the subsequent editor pages identical). So far I've been unable to undo my mess with some judicious use of the back button and more editing, but would it be possible to get an extra "Are you sure you want to edit someone else's post?" prompt?

I'm not aware of a setting to enforce this, though, it may be possible through modification to the php (or maybe someone already made a phpbb mod for this).

Personally, since things migrated to Adrian's server, I don't have the ability to make changes to php files, etc., though I think Adrian did say he was willing to make updates through changes submit through a github repository of the config values of the site.

So it'd probably be possible, but we'd have to involve Adrian in some way or another.

In the meantime, I guess I'd recommend reading what you submit before submitting it (quotes include quoted text).

Congrats! Or should I rather express my sympathy …? ;-)

Anyway, good too see you on board, good choice!
