Of course this is just a work-around, but it does... work. :)

Good enough for a workaround, thanks. I was trying View Source but the SGF in it had been baked so I couldn't extract it easily.

Would it be possible to change the forum code to avoid the error?

414 Request-URI Too Large

Or can I change the sgf so that it has a shorter URI?

Hm, yeah, I did modify the request URI size limit on Nginx precisely to avoid this problem - and as far as I can tell it did resolve the issues for the size of SGF people were complaining about in this thread in 2017.

Are there still SGFs that experience this issue? I can try raising the limit again; though a better solution would probably be to base64-encode the SGF before tossing it into the query string. I'll try to do that soon!

Test 2, Lizzie SGF (not working):

Thanks for looking into this.

The first game I entered a few moves directly in Lizzie.

The second game I entered on an android app, loaded it in Lizzie, and copied it from there.

Is the second diagram not working for anyone else? It loads fine for me.

can view the sgf, but download link gives:
Code:

nginx/1.17.3

(The problem is the not working download.)

Bump. Is there any prospect of fixing this?

With the limited information I have from the error message, I presume that this could be fixed by updating nginx config. The server is run off of apetresc's personal server, but if anybody has interest in investigating, you can deploy L19 locally (minus the database) following the instructions here:

https://github.com/LifeIn19x19/deploy

You shouldn't need the actual database to replicate the download error - you can make your own DB and just have an empty forum. If you figure something out, you could consider making a PR.

I don't personally have the bandwidth to look at this right now.

Fair enough. Thanks for the github link. I might have a play if I get very bored one weekend :-)

This has been fixed now: https://github.com/LifeIn19x19/deploy/c ... ae3af198b1

At least, the issue has been mitigated, allowing for SGFs up to 4x as large as the old limit to be downloaded. Details are in the Github commit.
