Heh, agreed.

I see it has been limited now to 200x200.

Another request: would it be possible to increase the user info box (where the avatar appears) to 200 pixels wide (if that's the final avatar size we're sticking with)? Right now people with larger avatars are causing that area to be stretched to fit their avatars. Causes the posts to not quite all line up the same way.

I saw that most were 120x120, so I set mine to that size...

Yeah, looks good. Maybe just limit the avatars to 120x200, or maybe even 130x200? Looks like that fits in the space already allotted, and seems a few people like their rectangle shaped avatars. ;)

Actually, 130 seems to work without pushing against the boundaries...

Speaking of avatars, do you think mine is too long? Should I switch to a more square version?

It does make your posts pretty big, but I personally don't mind it all that much.

I think this kind of comes down to what people want for a "standard" max avatar size.

Either way, it is nice seeing most people using very familiar avatars. :)

I created mine to fit the KGS size a few years ago. 120x120 I think.

KGS limits avatars to 141x200. I like my square roots you see. :) Plus it just seemed a nice proportion.

If you all want to shrink the L19 avatars down, I'll be happy to redo mine. 200x200 does seem a big bigger than necessary, but these days people have hi-res monitors more often, so maybe it's the right move?

I do not mind what limit is put in, but i think there should be one.
with today's wide screens 200x200 seems fine.

I think the limit should be 138x200. Anything wider than 138 screws with the layout of the posts (although if we eventually make a custom theme that may change), and anything longer than 200 stretches out short posts too much. If I do a custom theme I'll make sure it has room for at least 141x200 so that people can reuse their KGS avatars if they like.

I think this is a great idea.

Mainly, I'd prefer some thing that doesn't mess with the formatting/spacing of the posts with an over-sized avatar.

I think this avatar is the same I use on KGS, with the same proportions. Don't remember if the quality/image size is the same.

I use 150x300 on another forum. It enables larger (longer) avatars that typically don't cause any extra scrolling, while preventing that one annoying person from having a slightly wider avatar that throws off the page layout. (120x200 or 138x200 would probably work fine too.)
