Also, can you tell now which posts are new since you last visited a thread?

If you look at the top-right of each post box, next to the number and post time, there's an icon either Image or Image. White means read, orange unread, so just scroll down until you see an orange icon.

Also, in the forum view, the last column will have a Image next to the poster's name. Clicking that will take you to the most recent post automatically.

ooh, I disagree. that the one thing I really hated about GD
I am with ChradH here. There is no middle key on a laptop mouse.
It would be even better to make it an option, so you can choose the way you like to open links. Google does it this way.

I like this idea, but would suggest that it could be done as a normal subforum. This requires little work and will allow users to add comments.

That is a really cool idea. Maybe I'd sign up again then :)

Actually, I do want to go back and do a bit more on the ladder code. For one thing, make it an L19 ladder, and another, to have the turn based ladder in the code as well. Probably ought to convert it to .PHP too :P

I have created a separate thread to discuss ladder issues.

I'd like a list of allowed message attachment file types visible. I've uploaded a multi-megabyte archive three times only to be told after the upload was done that the extension is not allowed.

I'll post a list.

What file format were you trying to add?

6.2MB, pm. I ended up sending a Rapidshare link, so it's not a big deal.

ok. it exceeded size limits and those filetypes were not allowed in pms. I am changing some of that for future reference.

I'd like to be able to choose the height of the text entry area when replying to a post.

So, Joaz Banbeck makes a great post clearly explaining a non-trivial concept with no less than seven diagrams. I want to send some appreciation his way but feel that a series of "nice post" posts add clutter. I guess I should just PM him.

But I was thinking it would be nice if there was some sort of 'Thumps-up' counter - if you like a post you give it the thumbs up. The posters who put effort into their posts get some positive feedback. Future joiners could use a list of top vote getters to review the 'greatest hits' posts.

This might be similar to the 'I Like This Post' request earlier though that seemed more like a Favorites/Bookmarks list.

Looking at the mods, I see a 'Thanks for posts' mod. Maybe that is doing what I am thinking. Or maybe it just generates a PM. I can't tell.

StackOverflow uses positive feedback to great effect. There are many here who contribute their time and knowledge to help others and it would be nice to give them some recognition better than raw post count.

Thumbs up also known as the like/dislike button is on the to-do list.

When looking at a forum, can you make the columns sortable? I'd like to sort by number of Views to read the more popular topics first

First, I think adding a chatbox would be awesome :)

Second, it would be nice if admin added the feature of X-most boxes. That is, A box collection of 10 most-posted users, 10 most-liked users, 10 hottest threads, 10 most-viewed threads and 10 newest threads.

^^

I think the KGS chatroom is sufficient. What you really need is some place on the board that shows how many people are in the chatroom (and maybe who they are). Might require some help from wms on that one (because I don't think the bot protocol allows the bot to enter a chatroom, even just for reporting purposes).

another idea plssss :)!

How about instead of pasting the code inside the tags, you allow users to upload the kifu and store on the host? And then you can just throw in a few lines of code to call the eidogo to read whatever attachment with the sgf format?

Yet another idea:

I'd like to see 'journals' like Slashdot has. A journal is basically a blog or one-person forum in which you can post things and nobody else can. ( They can post comments if you allow )

There are times - often when doing a game review - that I would like to refer to a fundamental idea that has been discussed repeatedly but is new to the beginner whose game is being reviewed. I can post a link to an SL page, but sometimes it has been edited. I'd like to have my own private storeage of essays on fundamental ideas. Then each time that a beginner needs advice on why an empty triangle is bad, I can just point him to it rather than rewriting it.

I thought it already does this (seems like there's a thread somewhere explaining it)
