I noticed that particular threads became inaccessible, at first loading forever as if the request was timing out, then resulting in an "Internal Server Error" though. I have been trying all day to view those topics, but it just won't work, while the rest of the forum works perfectly fine.

The threads are those that refer to the European Professional contract with China:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8598
viewtopic.php?p=141250#p141250

So I guess those have been disabled on purpose by the lifein19x19 administration?

Hi raptor, I'm experiencing the same thing. On other occasions, too,
I've noticed some threads can take forever to load, then an error message.
I'm hoping it's a hardware/software problem on the host... :-|

its an old problem, as reported in this thread "the connection has timed out" (which is inaccessible at the moment due to this issue), that apparently has something to do with multi-page threads.

Online playing schedule: Every tenth February 29th from 20:00-20:01 (if time permits)
It is not a matter of multiple pages because I set my preference to 200 posts per page and those threads still did not load, even though they would only take one page. It must be the total number of posts in the thread which is critical.

I think it was more related to the number of posts that must be displayed on a given page. Setting my posts per page preference down to ten has completely solved it for me.

So now I have to lower my prefs down to 10?!
I already hate that I had to lower my prefs from 40 down to 20.

I wonder when this problem will get fixed?

No. We don't do that.

TTBOMK, our software does not work that way. If a thread appears to exist, you should be able to read it. There is no such thing as a disabled thread on L19.

There are three possible states for a thread:
1) You can see a link to it, and read it, and write to it.
2) You can see a link to it, and read it, but you can't write to it because we locked it. ( Image of a lock will be beside thread )
3) You cannot see a link to it because we deleted it. ( Very rare, but can happen )

If you can see a link to it but you can't load it, that is a bug, not a feature.

Please report which threads are doing this by messaging our admins (include all admins in the message by choosing the administrators group in the search filter options when adding a person to message) If we get all the threads reported we may find the common variable. Up until now the issue has only been reported on threads with multiple Go diagrams and had looked to be resolved. The two threads reported here don't appear to have go diagrams so we may be looking at a different issue.

It's happening again. This time it's the "Breathing" and "Professional Advice?" threads in the General Go Chat subforum.

FWIW, I can Access the Professional advice thread using IE, but not with FF - I can't Access the Breathing thread with either browser.

The Malkovich game Graemy vs. [somebody else] also was inaccessible … number of comments I have in my settings was 20. Then I lowered them to 10 and suddenly I could load that thread :-/

This worked for me as well on "Professional advice" and "WAGC 2013" threads. I then chaged my settings back to 20 posts/page and was still able to load the threads. (Using Firefox)

It was "breathing" and "Suggest a pretty photograph of go" for me this morning my time (about 10-12 hours prior to this posting). That was with Safari on the iPad.

it seems to be any thread with 20 posts or more (I think the magic number may be about 15 or 16 post in a thread)

Confirming the same ^. This time I changed to 15 posts/page (--> reload threads) and back to 20 --> problem solved.

EDIT: Too quick, the problem persists if I change back to 20 posts/page. I then tried 19, 18, 17 etc. and found that at least "WAGC 2013" thread works at 17 posts/page but not at 18. This is when the thread has 19 posts total.

Maybe there's a hiccup when a thread is at a treshold of having 2 pages or at 2 pages minus 1 post..?

yeah, that's my experience as well, changing the posts/page setting in your user control panel can temporarily "fix" the issue. Each time I encounter the issue, I can change the setting again, and fixed again, for a few viewings.
