So, the third week didn't get much response. Was everybody just wrapped up in life (that's my excuse), or was three weeks on one game a bit too much?

Anyway, as I promised Kirby here is the suggested reading for this week:

October 10, Pages 76-96
i. Pinghu
ii. A Wide Opening Serves Black
iii. The Immediate Approach
iv. Unclaimed Corners Are Big
v. Don't Change Horses Midstream
vi. Strategy Always Trumps Tactics
vii. Pincer When It Strengthens Existing Stones
viii. When in Danger, Sacrifice
ix. Settle the Shape Once the Path Is Clear
x. Chase Two Rabbits, but Catch One
xi. Play at the Intersection of Two Spheres of Influence
xii. An Ideal Moment to Probe
xiii. Context Is Everything to the Star Point

I also recommend playing through the game without the commentary and posting any initial impressions here to get started.

I hope we can keep learning together!

Thanks for starting a thread for game 2 - my excuse for falling off the last thread was work and my daughter coming down with the flu. Also, I do think spending 3 weeks on the game may have been a bit excessive.

I've played through the game before, what I recall is that it was a much harder game to follow, in part because of the Ko fights in the middle game.

It seems like this study group is dead ... I've been focusing on professional matters lately and did not have spare time for Go. I'll remain very busy for the next few months so I must abandon this group.
