Which are the best beginner books or tutorials to learn the proper endgame techniques?

http://senseis.xmp.net/?GoBooks#toc32 lists a few endgame books but the only one for beginners of endgame theory I can recommend is my own. In the Asian literature, you also find endgame tesuji books. If and only if you can read Japanese, consider O Meien's book. All other endgame books (Western and Eastern) on values cannot be recommended: too bad, too many mistakes or (Mathematical Endgames) too useless for players and especially beginners. In particular, Endgame (Ogawa / Davies) is too bad. Until better books on endgame values appear, go to Sensei's and learn about count and miai move value (but ignore everything advanced but Sensei's is good at confusing learners about advanced endgame value theory). There are also two or three videos somewhere explaining the very basics of count and miai move value but, IMO, they are also hard for learners.

The good news for you is that with Endgame 1 - Fundamentals and endgame tesuji books you can already learn how to treat 90 to 95% of the practically occurring endgame situations reasonably well. You can postpone learning endgame values until you will be familiar with the fundamentals. Uhm, and of course you must be able to stop each monkey jump while maintaining the maximal territory.
