My 14th go book, Endgame 2 - Values, 260 pages is available as printed book (EUR 26.50) or PDF (EUR 13.25). The comprehensive textbook explains every relevant, basic aspect of endgame evaluation, modern and traditional endgame theory, microendgame and the impact of

Book ordered :)

I don't know if I am going to get stronger with this book, but it answers some questions that have always intrigued me, like, for example, what happens in a corridor.

We thought when Black plays 1 that we need to divide the next shape by 2. 1 1/4 divided by 2 but it seems wrong.

Black 1 creates a closed empty corridor with three intersections. You find the most explicit step-by-step calculation of its count and move value in Endgame 2 - Values on p. 139f in Examples 1 and 2. (At other places, calculations are less explicit or refer to the formulas for empty corridors.) With 1 1/4, it seems you refer to the count. After reading there, can you now identify your mistake of dividing by 2 apparently once too often?
