Hi ! I'm hoping someone can help deal with this.

As the title suggests, I'd like some software to load an SGF file and browse through it. However, there are some restrictions.
  1. Windows only (yeah, I know).
  2. I can't install anything. So a standalone EXE file is fine, but anything needing an installer in a no-go.
  3. No Java programs. For some reason, since the IT department migrated my PC to Vista, Java software isn't working anymore and the IT guys could not possibly care less.
  4. I don't have internet access on my work station, so any website is right out.

Any suggestions ?

If you happen to have Bruce Wilcox's Go Dojo, then you are in luck. It is also an SGF viewer and Bruce designed it to not need an installer. You can copy it to a USB flash drive and run on any Windows computer.

You could also try to run Java from a USB flash drive. If you can get that to work on your work computer then there are several options, including the KGS client, CGoban3. See http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable

You could also try something for a web page such as GoSWF. Put your web page on the USB flash drive and double-click to launch.

Tell us what if you get anything to work.

I thought Glgo can be run without an installer, admin privileges, java, really anything...just a regular .exe (edit: just looked this up--I doubt this is true--it mentions python libraries being installed, and I have no idea if this stuff is built in on windows7).

Of course you'd want to check that for yourself.

A lot of these programs work if you install them onto a flash drive at home and then take the flash drive to work... assuming you can connect a flash drive to your work computer...

I would guess you can just drop the python libs in the same folder and be on your way to sgf bliss.

I have some similar problems ... ahem, restrictions.
SmartGo 1.5.2 and lower versions work fine for me.
(Anders Kierulf's version count will now be at 2.6 , I guess)

DRAGO ?

Kombilo?

Kombilo is also on the GoGoD CD which also has an own replayer and DOES NOT INSTALL ANYTHING (TMark and JohnF claim).

PDA??

For the thumb-drive-free approach, I often open private messages to myself on here, paste the sgf into sgf-full tags, and click preview. That way, I can look through the sgf all I want. No install needed, and minimal load on the server.

No Internet access for SolarBear...

Well, he could still go with Chew Terr's basic suggestion, by running a webserver off the flash drive, which perhaps has a Word Press installation, with EidoGo for the SGF viewing. XD

Thanks for your input, guys.

I forgot to mention that all USB ports are locked, except for some very specific uses (uploading programs on boards, USB mice and keyboards and that's about it). However nobody could stop me from bringing a burned CD or DVD at work. :)

I bring in a few Gb of music every now and then anyway, so a few Mb for a few programs and some SGFs won't take up much space. I guess I'll bring all of them !

Thanks, guys.

Darrell's second suggestion works perfectly. You could just burn the portable drago to your CD. I dont have administrator rights, no problem. ( windows7 pro ).
The third suggestion didn't work. I guess you should not only download the webpages but the whole site.
For the first suggestion I couldnt find the download.
