Hi everyone,

Just wanted to show an image from my Go PC game.

Image

It contains Tutorial, play against AI on 9x9, 13x13, 19x19. Atari Go with 3 difficulty settings (none that hard, mostly for beginners). Tsumego, replaying of Pro games and some small beginner lectures (common joseki, end game, shape and more).

Plan is to release on Steam sometime next year, still a couple of bugs to iron out. Any specific features you would like to see? My hope is that it will bring in new players and make it easier for beginners to improve.

Regards Andreas

Looks very nice.

One significant feature that would make me much more likely to buy/use it would be some sort of interfacing with a Go server. AncientGo, another Go game on Steam, interfaces with OGS so you can play online games there using it.

Hi Andreas,

Very pretty!

Any chance to connect to IGS, KGS, and other servers ? :)

The captured stones on lids (with randomized placement) feature ( like GoPanda2 ) is excellent.

Option for other (minimalist) background textures is a bonus.
( Example: solid maple wood floor, etc. :) )

BTW, where did you obtain the screenshot of the 3-piece (shinkaya?) board ? :)

Hi guys, glad you like the look :) Yes more options for backgrounds will be available. Also different colored boards. Right now there isn't a planned online feature, my thought was to add that later if at all. Feels like a good online client is a big project in itself. Will investigate and see how much work it would involve!

The texture is a 3d render made by an artist friend of mine. Based on a 3d asset bought and rendered with Vray in 3ds Max. After rendering there is some additional touch ups done in photoshop.

Hi Andreas,

Consistent diffused gentle light source (from top left) and soft shadows excellent. :)

Minimal wastage of screen real estate (board length ~= screen height) excellent.

:D so glad you like it. Some more info, the AI difficulties range from 15 kyu to 7 dan. The tutorial is interactive and very extensive. 400 Tsumego, beginner, easy, intermediate, hard. Hopefully can add more. Selected pro games from 16 different pros to replay and with a guess next move feature. Price point will probably be around $10-$15

This looks very impressive! Looking forward to it. And hopefully we'll see more of the development along the way.

Thanks! Will see if I can create some new gifs of some of the features. Just got the art so need to update some things before I can record them.
