Hi

I didn't quite get around to trying out the Guess Next Move functionality of SmartGo before the trial expired. Is it possible to give some more information about this functionality? For example: do I simply load a game from GoGoD and then click the Guess Next Move button? does it auto play the opponents moves, do I have a finite number of guesses, is there an AI integration function (e.g. I play a move that isn't the played move, the AI evaluates the move)? Can I guess from both sides? Is there a hint option?

For the iPhone app, the game is loaded, and you click somewhere to play. If you guessed correctly, the move shows up, just like if you were navigating the sgf.

If you didn’t guess correctly, but were in the rig he general area of the board, there are green dots on the intersections around that area, so you can guess again (correct move is one of those green dots).

If you are totally off, you’ll see red dots around the area you just played.

It’s an interesting feature, but I find that the importance of guessing “exactly the right move” fluctuates. Eg. For the first move, if you guessed 4-4 and he played 3-4... Is it really that bad?

I suppose you could use it also for memorizing games... but normal sgf navigation works for that, too.

I and my friends use it to play the Competitive Guess The Move game we made up, which is a lot of fun and can be a nice communal break from playing games.
