Hi ,

i play with a Chronos blitz 2 with sensor touch. These clocks with sensor button are really
fun to play with - if you need all sorts of time settings ill recommend the "big" Chronos 2

greetings

I recently got the Meijinsen clock made by Citizen, from Kuroki. I absolutely concur with the others, this is a great clock ! I used to own a Chronos way back during my Chess days, and this clock just blows it out of the water IMO !

Attaching a picture and a scanned PDF copy of the quick start guide in English that Mr. Kuroki kindly included.

This is a very old thread - but I thought I'd ask here since the Meijin-sen clock has been mentioned several times in this thread.

It seems as though the prices have come down - amazon.co.jp has the DIT-40 for under 10,000 yen now ($80!). I'm writing to ask if anyone knows of any additional distributors for the Meijin-sen clock (beyond Kuroki-san, who is still charging 11900JPY).

Thanks,

Todd

Amazon is the cheapest I found. I got mine at the Nihon Kiin but it looks like they don't have it available on their rakuten store.

It seems there's a cheaper one on a rakuten store... but I'm a bit leery of doing the multiple shipper thing that one has to do (as far as I understand it) with rakuten...

That is the same price as the one I see on amazon.co.jp. I'm just not sure any will do international shipping.

Just got the Meijin-sen today. It's a beaut. I would have gone with the Chronos as a nice heavy duty clock, but I really do like what I see in the Meijin-sen. So, here's the unboxing. I'm going to put up a review video too, and a visual instruction manual. The typed one at Sensei's Library is very helpful, but I think a video showing the features might also be nice.

Hi DrQuantum,

Thanks for the video.

Nice, distinctive spines of your Everyman's Library books. :)

DGT makes several digital game clocks. I see the "DGT North American" on the internet for about $40.00. It appears to support byo-yomi and, perhaps (I'm not really clear on this 2nd) Canadian overtime. Does anyone have experience to share on these timers? The longer experience the better.

DGT North American doesn't look like a suitable replacement for the DGT 2010. It doesn't support byo-yomi.

From their FAQ, a direct comparison:

I really can't add anything that hasn't been said already, except that I was flustered the first time I used it by the time counting up. Setting the clock really is very quick and easy. My only reservation, compared to my Chronus, is that the plastic case on the Meijen doesn't feel very solid...but we haven't knocked it off a table...yet...to test it.

Hi Aidoneus,

There's probably no option to have it count down?

That's good info; maybe a durability review over time...

If there is an option, I haven't been able to find it. Of course, having no instructions beyond what someone posted at Senseis doesn't help.
